  1. I most commonly find ancient skellies while i'm digging for bait before a solo fishing trip
My friends also tend to find them more often while i'm playing with them, leading to injokes about how Rare is rewarding me for grinding Hunters Call/Hunter Milestones
I got around 500 hours and even without the community day boost i must've gotten somewhere between 10-20 so far

  2. There is another theory/possibility and it is based off of experience although it could be time spent in game as you suggested as well. 10k+ Hours played here (No flex intended) and I find that when I spend ancient coins in the emporium, I get more ancient skeletons that spawn on me soon after. Like a reward from Rare or like a "mail-in" discount or rebate. If I were to guess, no exaggeration, I have had somewhere in the neighborhood of 40+ Ancient skellies spawned and killed since they were released with zero effort on my part to hunt for them. I can also confirm I have spent nearly, (An Ass Ton), in the Emporium as well. TLDR; The more you spend in the Emporium the more Ancient Skellies Spawn for you. Again though, this is theory with zero supported evidence other than my personal experience. Good luck in your pursuit.

  3. Had my last ancient skeleton spawn on a sea fort after I cleared it and had loaded the loot, was sitting around cooking a metric buttload of fish in the kitchen, and I heard him spawn on the ramparts outside.

  4. I was in a full crew fishing for some fish after we had cleared out a fortress. After 10 minutes or so we had encountered an ancient skelly and then another 15 minutes we had another one spawn. We were considering staying there but one of us had to hop off so we agreed on selling our fish first.

  5. i might note just to clear up something that may confuse some, it doesnt need to specifically be in place of an enemy spawning, i have had a few at inactive skele forts, one at a finished ghost fort, and one at an active ghost fort mid wave

i only add this because the way it was expressed in the video could make it almost sound like they only spawn in place of skeletons or enemies even though its not directly stated, figured i would clear some possible confusion

  6. when it comes to spawning, i had 3 of them spawn in 1 day with a friend, we went island to island on a voyage, and all 3 islands had one, its likely pure luck, but it does make me wonder if it selects a server then does a check on each island 1 by 1 if one can spawn there or not
