Talking of John Carpenter – I think he’s my fave director of all time and I agree that I wouldn’t put Halloween in his top five (that’s how high a calibre of a director he is)! I love Prince of Darkness and Big Trouble in Little China too. Hard to beat The Thing – I think it’s a near perfect movie. It’s a shame he’s not done much of worth since the 80s. I’ve never met the man but apparently he’s touring his music again so hopefully he’ll come to the UK and I’ll get my chance to spend time in his presence. But he smokes cigars and looks like death so I’m not holding out much hope for a world tour from him!
All these were good. Rob Zombie movies are the equivalent of dogshit on fire. Needed the laughs today. This is justice served on these scoundrels of cinema. Pretty sure Woody Allen would fxck himself if he could…and then make a movie about unfxcking himself.
I love the Fog! It’s my favorite Carpenter Horror film, mostly due to the first one I saw as a kid. I don’t know too many people that like compared to his other films. Totally do a review on that!
Honestly, I don’t really see the point in Horror franchises – at some point they will just try to make another movie to say “look we are bring the series back to form”.
On Kar-Wai – I like Chungking Express a lot, but that’s it. Have you ever seen his Mood for Love???? It’s like we are following his characters around for no purpose.
Hey there 🖐️ Jonny here. You popped up on my suggested today (because we review similar things I'm assuming). Great video. I'll check out more of your stuff over the weekend (sub'd in the meantime 😉).
It's cathartic to see people agree with me on the video title list. I'd also add Sofia Coppola, and even though Fincher and Kubrick are great they're wayyy overrated.
I dunno man. really enjoyed the video, its long, thought out responses etc. will defo watch more. but it felt a little unbalanced and inconsistent. Of course, we won't agree on everything, but I felt like you were unfair on Wes Anderson. I'll admit recently its been entirely style over substance, but that Wes Anderson 'style' has been so outrageously influential on films and even visual content more broadly that this alone is worth praise and acknowledgement. I hate his recent stuff, asteroid city was pretentious and soulless. but films like the royal tenenbaums absolutely have heart and are really brilliant I think. grand Budapest was also solid because of the plot (which you were complaining he hadn't had any of since Rushmore). but the biggest thing that bothered me was that just because Wes Anderson is SO highly rated it felt like you swung too far the other way and hated on him without a balanced opinion. like, you were perfectly comfortable calling Rob Zombie's movies 'art', and then when you talk about Wes you say its not art at all. I don't now why that bothered me so much, but thanks for making me think about it anyway – much better than just watching a mind-numbing and needless video essay or instagram reels or something
Big Fish got to be one of my favorite films of all time, but Tim Burton simply lost it at some point – and that "it" he used to have was nothing genius to begin with.
Wes Anderson is just fun to me. Absolutely agree with Tarantino!! It's a crime we're only getting one more.
JJ ABRAMS……Managed to botch two science fiction franchises.
Agree with most of this list, is that a Discogs shirt?

Two words James Wan
I dropped some friends off at the pool like you suggested, but no universal secrets were revealed. Thanks for nothing!

You are not even rated you retarded narcissist loser
14:24 Nolan is so overrated it makes me furious. The marketing and hype for this movies is everything. Style over substance for sure.
