Monster Monday- Resident Evil (2002)

And here we go with another big franchise over the next 7 weeks.

Here is some info about the channel:

Greeting ghouls and ghosts! Our names are Jason and Kali, and we are the horror couple of your dreams- or nightmares! Jason has been a film nut for over 30 years, and Kali has a hyper-fixation with horror and slashers. Together we spend most of our waking life watching films and obsessing over them. We record movie reviews and discussions weekly, and love watching and talking about both lesser known and popular films in the horror genre. Occasionally we also review comic books, video games, television series, and novels. Additionally, we also enjoy making short horror videos. 1. I'm a huge fan of the RE games. My aunt knew that I was a fan and she took me to see the first movie opening night.
I was 8 years old. Of course, I loved the movie.
It was the first zombie movie i've seen in theaters. She took me to see 2 and 3 too.
When it comes to 4, 5 and 6. I started going with my friends. I've seen every RE movie in theaters.
Even tho I love the games so much. The Paul WS Anderson movies never bothered me.
Most RE fans HATE those movies. I think they came out at the right time for me. I love zombies and action, I love RE and Mila is super hot.
I had every reason to be into them lol.

I see the RE games as something similar to the friday the 13th movies or halloween. Yes, the story is basic and simple but I can watch them again and again countless times.
When it comes to The Last of Us as, I see it as movies like hereditary and midsommar. It's incredible well made, the acting is amazing, but it's not something I revisit often.

Fun fact. A couple of RE games made callbacks to the laser room.
The Umbrella Chronicles (the rail shooter) has a small scene in the laser room and it looks just like the one in the movie.
The original Resident Evil 4 also had a laser room. For some reason that part was cut in the remake.
I mentioned this because resident evil is a japanese franchise. It's rare when they acknowledge stuff outside of the games. Especailly something made in the west.

You mentioned RE Revelations 2 as one that you haven't played yet. That's a really good game.
The first one is ok, but is not necessary to play 2.
It's a coop game. You can play split screen if you want. Don't worry, you can move and shoot lol.

It's the best coop RE game imo. I can't stand RE6. For many reasons lol.
I don't have problems with the controls and graphics of RE5. Mostly because it plays just like orignal RE4 and I've played that game so many times.
I'm used to that kind of gameplay.

  2. 7 is a geniuine solid horror game, guess you're just too old to play play stressful survival horror lmao (i'm "old" too 29, and i LOVED it for the first person, but I can imagine it being too much visually)

  3. One of my favorite series but at the same time I think the movies are mostly terrible. It is one of those times I think the movies are bad but love them. I bought the series twice once on dvd and then on blue ray. When I bought the DVD collection two movies weren't out yet. When the other two movies came out it was cheaper to buy the entire blue ray collection than just buying the missing movies.

I'm also working my way through the video games, currently on RE2 remake. It is odd that 0 and one haven't been remade. One does have like 5 different versions but none are remakes.

Anyway this first movie is the best in the series including the animated movies and tv series. Oddly enough I actually like the tv show. However, they did make some odd chances and I'm not talking about changing the race of some characters that blew the minds of the racists.

  4. i’ve made Monday’s “martial arts” Monday’s. i did a run through of all Sho Kosugi’s films(he’s my favorite). next up is Bruce Lee’s films.

this series is good. def gets more action later on. SO much ammunition!

  5. I was in middle school when this came out and I saw it upwards of 6 times in the theater lol. Kept dragging different friends to see it. Was a major fan of resident evil games and even though it didn't live up to the games it was fun for me.

  6. I looooove the RE games, I've been playing them since 1996 when they came out! One of my favorite game series ever. The first two RE movies are very fun for me, I've seen the both of them HUNDREDS of times
