In the original novel, Erlang Shen – Yang Jian, knows how to change 73 forms, while wukong knows only 72. Yang Jian is about one level power up on wukong, but Yang Jian has some feud with with uncle, the big boss heaven emperor, so he purposely let wukong loose. Journey to the west, is about a political struggle drama among human/heaven/monster .
