  1. Awsome video, hope you're feeling better cap.

Also if there ever is a fix to the gummed up carrier problem, it should have at least a delay to simulate clearing the deck of a downed aircraft. What that time delay would be would be up to you guys of course.

  2. I am not an expert but would the missile tracking be affected at all if the Japanese planes approached/cruised at close to sea level?

And if so would be nice to see that scenario.
A scenario where we can contrive that the Japanese had some type of intel to help them via tactics to give them the best possible chance.
A kind of best case scenario based considering the massive tech difference.

  3. i have a semi regular customer who comes in wearing a cvn-65 uss nimitz hat. i asked him "so where you there on the Nimitz on dec 7th 1941 when she took on the entire imperial japanese navy?

His answer was "Yes. Yes I was. I'm in the movie twice as an extra"

  4. this was really cool to watch and thank you for making it, but the reality is a 1980s us carrier would have simply launched an attack at dawn when the Japanese were preparing to launch planes, sank their carriers, flew back rearmed, sank the battle ships and cruisers. a few destroyers might escape. a 90s carrier would have just attacked at 2 am and sank everything at once.

  5. Small suggestion, when having Players flying, perhaps have a second carrier for them to launch from. They then have the limit of a carrier for them to have "lives".

  6. The RN did have armoured flight decks, indeed, a hit that would have caused an US carrier weeks in the dock back home would be more like 'fill this hole with cement, we'll be good to go come morning' in many cases.
There is method to the madness, however:
The RN would have their carriers operate within strike distance of land most of the time, they would be bombed … hence the need for armoured flight decks.
The USN would operate their carriers in the wide expanses of the Pacific, only reachable by CVs — and using the space and weight for more planes instead meant you stood on equal footing with Japanese CVs, instead of losing all planes and then be torpedoed to death — torpedoes famously rarely hit the flight deck to do damage …

Drachinifel has a video about that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dHdGHP8hCg

  7. 26:15 That's actually a bug simulating reality by accident. Those CVs have wooden flight decks, not armored flight decks. A warhead the size of an AMRAAM would probably punch a hole in one, especially if it touched off a fully loaded dive-bomber setting up to launch. The results of that can sink a ship, if you get lucky enough; 1940s warships were wonderfully flammable as a rule, and carriers especially so.

  8. As fun as this is, there is another anti ship weapons system that the AI seems to not be using: modern torpedos. Even the 1990s mk80s and mk50s would have ripped the IJN ships to pieces from a distance. Can this be included in another match up?

  9. GR out here wasting taxpayer dollars!😂

You are not aggressive enough. The IJN is helpless here.

Your first sorties should be strike against carriers. 4 F-18 each with 4 GBU-24, 2 Aim-120 and center tank. 2 fighters as escort, just A-A load out.

Go high, go fast. Fly over the flak and fighters and ignore the Japanese air. (Probably have to use humans)

Sinking the carrier kills all the planes still on board. Those are your priority targets.

Launch your air to air sorties next. Japanese air is basically no threat to the CSG. No rush.

Next sortie are tankers and CAP to bring home your strike fighters.

Now you sanitize the airspace. Then you can defeat the Japanese fleet in detail at your leisure.

Now you can keep many more of those SM-6 and AIM-120 in the magazines. I guess the Japanese would only get to launch about 100 planes… maybe less.

  10. This was exactly as expected, but Pearl Harbor was a surprise attack whilst this video had two Aircraft With A Circular Spinner (AWACS) already airborne and detecting. I think that the Japanese might have a smallest chance if just the ship radar was used until the first Japanese asset was detected, then scrambling the AWACS (from one of the airbases on Guam), along with the US aircraft.

  11. The Japanese attack was completely destroyed, all ships and aircraft destroyed and nothing landed on pearl, lunch was not disturbed on a paradise island! No nuclear weapons development?✌️❤️🇬🇧

  12. I wonder what it would look like for the modern JSDF to launch an attack against WW2 Pearl Harbor, especially if the carriers that the Japanese were hoping were stationed in Pearl Harbor were actually there at the time.
