these might be his favorites but he didn't seem to bother learning more than just the jist of most of them
😊
Where the f… is the Painkiller Intro????
Best Portnoy intro for me in 'Never Enough'
6:00 a clock is for me one of my favourite Mike's intros
Great Great Great Mike!!
4:48 it's "Another Life", not "Run To The Hills".
Mike is a musician's drummer. Such a powerful musical soul.
That's incredible how this guy can paly so well those Dream Theater's intros. Hats off whoever you are.
ayyo he didn't even play his own song right!
The metal bands that came out in the 80's were garbage, with drummers over playing, like everyone else. They might be great drummers, but their music sucked. They tried to outdo groups like Deep Purple, Led Zepplin, Aerosmith, Grand Funk, The Who, and Kansas. They never will have the music appeal of the classic rock groups. The last great rock group to come out was in the mid 80's, The Smithereens, who are not really hard rock or metal, but it's tasteful songs that people can sing to. Not the garbage or Iron Maiden, Anthrax, STP, etc..
Mike sounds great.. he sounds like a really humble guy… definitely going to get very far in the drum biz.
Maybe i am too old-school but i only knew bonzo and Neil
Many drummers have been on this exact journey, give or take.
Cozy Powell "Stargazer" id add
Got to see The Winery Dogs this Spring. What a treat!! If you can..go see them. Outstanding.🍷🎸🥁🎤
I'm a bit surprised he doesn't play some of the bits note by note.
mike is a sort of Eddy Valen to drums..twenty years advance of thiis timei
4:51 is "Another Life", not "Run to the Hills"…
That's probably the most incorrect version of "Where Eagles Dare" I've ever heard 😂
Among all the person Mike has mention the one most closed to his playing style is Neil Peart
What a horrible drummer
Port-port rules, my 3 when I was young were Portnoy, Tim Alexander and Chris Adler. Now that's out of the way, boy did he bow out of that halftime shuffle groove. That fancy kit aint saving you from that shuffle.
4:47 thats Another Life's drum intro not Run To the Hills dude 😀
Geddy and Alex are getting "itchy"and talking about touring again as Rush !!!
I hope to God they are talking to you Mike because "Everyone" knows that you are the guy for the Part !! They know you know each Rush song and would play them as they should be !!!
Say Yes Please !!! 👍🥁🎶
why Portnoy rush this beats?
Another
Mikes such a drum juke box. He does Moon like nobody else.
Townsend should have him in The WHO 👍🏻
4:49 that Another Life, not Run to the Hills
….and where's Painkiller? One of the most iconic drum openings ever.
super bummed he didn't play the welcome to the family intro correctly….
Great list, but I'd add Randy Castillo's "Over the Mountain" intro!
He's pretty good xD
Digital Man by Neil Peart is one of his best.
If you're wondering where that tom run is in Run to the Hills, it's actually Another Life, from Iron Maiden's second album
Thats wasnt Run to the hills!
oWH, WOW
When he started speaking about 80's metal bands, I was fully expecting him to play the Painkiller intro from Judas Priest
Wonder what Mike thinks of Danny Carey?
He plays nearly every Bonham part wrong. I mean, not even close.
my toxic trait is thinking i can play all of these
Flotsam & Jetsam is so underrated it’s a travesty. They are so much better than anything Anthrax ever put out.
I'm a bit surprized that he didnt do Holy wars. it's such a cool drum groove
I miss my all time favourite – painkiller!! For me,by far the best drum intro ever!! Can not get enough of it!
4:47 Iron Maiden – Another Life
When i first started playing drums when I was a kid, it was because of you mike, back in 94 when I first heard the Awake album, so Thank You 😊
The last track you played – Wow you did like Motorhead – Overkill in there somewhere.
How did he miss painkiller by Priest criminal oversight
He can't play Fool In The Rain..
Completely ignored Liquid Tension Experiment… 👎👎
Ok but who is Mike Portnoy
