Mike Felger calls out Adam Jones for his 'hot take' on when to play young QBs: "You're just wrong!"

Adam Jones joins Mike Felger and Michael Holley on Boston Sports Tonight to discuss the 49ers’ decision to go with Sam Darnold as their backup QB over Trey Lance and debate whether or not the Patriots would be smart to try and trade Bailey Zappe for the former third-overall draft pick. Then, Mike Felger goes off on Jones for his take that the truly elite QBs can start from day 1 without any development and it won’t matter to their ultimate career performance.

  1. The niners will have to package a pick with Lance to get rid of him. He's not ready to play, he can't even complete the short passes, the reason Purdy is starting over Lance is not because Purdy can make all the throws, Purdy is even more limited than zappe, it's because Purdy is money on screen passes and checkdowns.

  2. I mean the two greatest that we have seen in the past 20ish years, Brady and Mahomes both sat for a year (I think Mahomes played like 1-2 games toward the end of 1st year)

  3. Michael Lombardi was right all along! The trade-up was supposed to be to draft Mac Jones. 49ers had a team that was ready to win now and Mac Jones was the most pro-ready QB in that draft. I believe he would've played well in Shanahan's offense. But public pressure can be a mo'fo'!!! People couldn't comprehend Mac Jones as the number 3 pick in the draft, so Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch no longer had the balls to go through with it and instead picked a guy who had the tools, but needed plenty of time to develop.

  4. Tanner McKee. Would trade Mac and a draft pick for Tanner. Not sure what the 3rd dude is saying about trading Zappe. If you want to move towards a modern qb, then you trade Mac….if you can. Then again, asking a journalist to make sense is a big ask.

  5. This cannot be real. First of all there's a ton of guaranteed money on his deal between this year and next year (5.4 guaranteed). He's awful. He can't play. This is Mike Felger and Adam Jones at their worst. They literally can't trade him for ANYTHING. THEY TRIED TO GET EVEN A 7TH FOR HIM. ZERO TAKERS AMONG THE OTHER 31 TEAMS. You guys are so fucking provincial, you have literally no perspective on the league at all. The kind can't play. Less than ZERO chance we'd ever bring him in.

  6. "he's a potential modern day qb"
Yeah and N'Keal Harry was a potential WR1. People turn out to be busts. No reason to waste time covering this. Patriots don't need to waste a lottery ticket in lance
