Metallica: Screaming Suicide (Official Music Video)

Metallica’s official music video for “Screaming Suicide,” from the album “72 Seasons” available April 14th, 2023.

“‘Screaming Suicide’ addresses the taboo word of suicide. The intention is to communicate about the darkness we feel inside. It’s ridiculous to think we should deny that we have these thoughts. At one point or another, I believe most people have thought about it. To face it is to speak the unspoken. If it’s a human experience, we should be able to talk about it. You are not alone.”

LYRICS

Welcome to this life
Born into the fight
Here to claim your dream
Look you in the eye
Patch the broken sky
Craving dopamine
Then my voice appears
Teaching you of fears
Are you good enough?
You don’t recognize
Head is full of lies
You should just give up

Listen well, better listen well
Listen well, better listen well

Don’t ever speak my name
Remember you’re to blame
Keep me inside
Keep me inside
My name is suicide

Curse another day
Spirit locked away
Punish and deprive
Hate to be awake
Living a mistake
More dead than alive
Then a voice appears
Whisper in your ears
“You are good enough”
Throwing down a rope
A lifeline of hope
Never give you up

Listen well, better listen well
Listen well, better listen well

Don’t ever speak my name
Remember you’re to blame
Keep me inside
Keep me inside
My name is suicide

Terrified in sleepless nights
Caught in spotlight dead to rights
Isolate and fight your mind
Telling you you’re left behind

My lying voice inside
Keeps drinking cyanide
And no more can you run
Into the sun

Terrified, sleepless nights
Caught in spotlight dead to rights
Isolate and fight your mind
Telling you you’re left behind

And now you speak my name
You’ve given back the blame
Keep me deep inside
Don’t you keep me inside
Screaming suicide

Now that I’m exposed inside
Shined a light on cyanide
I’m no longer needed here
Now you’ve faced your biggest fear

  2. So since everyone is praising these first 2 singles and failing to acknowledge seemingly how far from thrash metal Metallica is drifting. It seems like there going back to load/reload material which sucks. Hopefully these first 2 are outliers 72 seasons might have some good songs on it.

  3. It's clear to me that James has a problem with suicidal tendencies if you listen to his lyrics you can hear it loud and clear Poor James has been screaming out for help for decades don't worry James we all love you don't ever do anything stupid I been a fan since 84……

  4. The good: Great riffs and lyrics. James sounds great. And the song structure is very good.

The bad: The same old overuse of snare from Lars. The same boring fills and no rhythmical dynamics. Lar's sounded much better on the first single Lux Eterna.

    Non-inspiring solo from Kirk.

    6/10 from me.

  5. Творческий кризис. Коктейль прошлых лет. Творческий суицид. С 83 слежу за группой. Давно катится в пропасть.

  6. Music has a power and this is a powerful band. An incredible stretch of evolution and growth through decades and I've been lucky enough to see and hear it from early on. As a fan, I watched Metallica grow up and fine tune. James in particular, and with the support of his band mates, have really made change across the globe. Metallica knows the voice they carry and have opened the door to humanity. This side of the band and their foundation is what will put them over the top to one day receive the Kennedy Award Honor. I've been listening since Ride the Lightning and still, the hairs on my arms stand when I hear a new track. The heart beats a little faster, the goosebumps… long live to the greatest live band to ever grace the stage.
