C'mon, man, you didn't cheese the boss. Cheesing is using a bug or glitch, like an impassable doorway, to beat the fight in a way that's clearly not intended. Miyazaki & Co. put weapon arts, spells, and phantoms in the game. If they wanted only melee weapons to be used, that's all there would be. It's not like this boss doesn't have a plethora of ranged attacks. If you want to criticize your own performance, it'd be more accurate to say you only won because you have high vigor.
