Marriage Between Technology and Humanity | Dylan Terrell | TEDxSanMigueldeAllende

NOTE FROM TED: TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/tedx_content_guidelines.pdf

Through the lens of a new class of water contamination, which disproportionately impacts low income communities around the globe, Dylan Terrell will talk about the importance of developing technological solutions to modern challenges in collaboration with those most affected by their consequences. Dylan Terrell is the founder and executive director of Caminos de Agua (Caminos). In the early years of the organization, Dylan helped build and coordinate many of Caminos’ core programs, including water quality monitoring, technology development, rainwater harvesting projects, education, and other community projects. In 2019, Caminos de Agua received the Innovation Showcase (ISHOW) Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in Washington, D.C. for their work on low-cost water solutions. In 2021, Dylan was selected as an Ashoka Fellow, an international network of social entrepreneurs, for his work with Caminos de Agua. Today, Dylan oversees all of Caminos’ programming and spends much of his time on institutional collaborations, network building, and multi-stakeholder collaboration to pursue broader systemic change to address our growing water crisis. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
