Malenia wasn't too bad for me. I went with a +25 uchigatana, seppuku ash of war. Me and my mimic just went in her full force, staggering her non stop and managed to win pretty easily that way. Took me about 7 attempts I think.
She is hard. But the other trick is to use Mimic Tear +10 and just make sure it doesn’t die in 1st phase. From there just help it and you’ll beat her.
Damn, full moon spam is a good strat. The queens rod or what have you seems strong. The boss doesn't seem to dodge it at all.
That no fp tear really ruins the game
I was doing a mix of a melee build and sorcery build and that fight was terrifying, sword of night and flame’s r1 skill barely works in second, I didn’t even know the whole thing with Malenia’s needle and the frenzied flame until after I killed her and finished Millicent’s quest line, this game has to be one of the best from soft games ever

I went through 109 attempts on her before goin to finish the game. I came back after completing and finished her In 2 tried. I used mimic and blasph tho so it's not a feat but jfc. I'm happy

Her fight made me wish there was a deflection mechanic like in Sekiro. A true sword fight with her would have been so much fun.
Funny how they remove the gear as if it actually matters, you get hit your die, gear or not. It's more about the actual levels.

6 attemps, no tear ashes, melee, dual wielding blood weapons + 80 poise can tank everything but some combos.
Holy shit, every boss fight of this game I see amazes me…

If I didn't have a +10 mimic and a bleed build, I probably would have skipped this boss
As a strength build i just used mimic tear and tried to stagger her as much as possible, then hope that my mimic would tank her blade slash attacks
Had to completely respec my character just to beat her. Ended up using moonveil blade with high int and just spammed the ranged attack while my mimic took the aggro. Most satisfying kill ever
