Making Bosses for my Game | Devlog

Game development update for the game PixelTribe that im currently working on. In this devlog series I discuss the progress of the game and different challenges ive met during development.

In this dev log I add some long overdue and new enemies! Including bosses!

PixelTribe is a game where you can build, upgrade and manage your own clan of vikings. Here you can craft and equip weapons and armor for your vikings, and send them on different raids against other bad-guys.

  2. I don't mean to be rude, but I'm really curious: why did you choose to make a mobile game as an indie developer? I'm not referring to shipping for Android/iOS, I'm referring to the signature design choices that the mobile gaming industry is notorious for like long waiting periods for production and shiny loot boxes, as typically these are used in big commercial games because they maximize playtime and microtransactions, which is what they're designed for. I'm really confused why you'd want to go with these designs as an indie dev.

  3. "I'm not an artist" – continues to make an absolutely stunning animation of a wolf running o.o"

Seriously, don't undermine your abilities, I think what you've created so far looks really awesome! 😀

  4. Idea: Remember those crystals that you get while reading? I remember that they are only used to give players weapons and buffs so I would recommend making them more needed to progress. Also what about you add a training centre to make the Vikings better attacker and better defenders. You can also add a “missing” feature where there is a chance that the Vikings will miss while attacking the opponent. Also add critical hits.

  5. if you need to change colors of a sprite couldnt you add a tint to a white sprite? im not sure if that works but it could save time instead of just redrawing the creature with a new color. there are some downsides but it would add pragmatic elements to the artwork

  7. ngl I'll never play this (I just like watching devlogs lol); but suggestions I can do, now that you have wolves… what about a training facility for the vikings to "tame" wild creatures to use in battle themselves?

  8. How about a miniboss about half way through each tribe? Also I'd love to see a mode after you beat the game which basically turns the difficulty up 50 times for those who love throwing their keyboards across the room and punching holes through their walls, but also a cool ending and a sense of pure joy when you beat it again… maybe also a few exclusive bosses and enemies too
