  1. I'm glad to see a new airline joining the US market. This time, we have a REAL Alaskan airline! (Alaska Airlines is based in seattle… haha)
I will be looking forward to the launch!

  2. It will be nice for this airline to begin operations soon. They will be using a great airplane in the Boeing 757. The 757 is known for the "shorter take-off" capabilities, superior climb power, and would also be able to fly in and out of smaller airports. It's an airplane that has good range, among city pairs. Even though the 757 is showing it's age, it could be noted that this would prove to be beneficial for this brand "new" airline. Hopefully they can consider ordering some newer Boeing airplanes for their future plans. The 757 would work just fine for now. I really think this airline will be successful, and I'm hopeful they will be.

  4. That's probably a 45 minute flight vs a 3 hour drive. Given the waiting time associated with getting on and off the flight, if it was me, I'd drive. Still, I'm happy they haven't given up. I'm off to Japan from SF next month, and as a former Alaska resident, I would have loved to have taken Northern Pacific and stopped over for a few days.

  5. From multiple trips a day to Asia to 1 per week to Vegas is a small start. They could make money going to Asia now fares are crazy. Hopefully they aren’t expecting to use Putin air space for flights within next 10 years or so! It won’t be happening.

  6. This is a terrible idea!! They need to codeshare with Alaska Airlines and start serving Tokyo Narita and Nagoya right away since that’s their business model. Why compete with Southwest and Frontier between Ontario and Las Vegas 🤷🏻‍♂️

  7. Excellent! Both ONT and SBD are about 15 minutes from my house. Nice to have more alternatives.

Now if we could only get another Asian airline to fly out here besides just CI…

  8. If I heard this correct NP is planning one flight from ONT-LAS then a return back to ONT at the end of the weekend. So, the plane is going to sit idle for 2+ days in LAS?? I am a working crew member of 30 years for a large US airline. So with their 757 sitting idle in LAS for the duration of the weekend, how could NP possibly make a profit off of an idle airplane. And, as a working crew member who loves his job, but, I do like to get paid for my time away from home. So, NP is going to fly the one hour flight to LAS and have their crew sitting in a hotel for 2+ days, then fly the one hour flight back LAS-ONT! I can't imagine they are unionized, so 2 hours of pay and gone for 4 days away from home! That would be a pay check of less than $100 for Flight Attendants, and maybe a couple hundred for the pilots. Hard pass from a crew member stand point, can't live on that for sure, way less than minimum wage! I do love the 757 though, good luck NP, you're going to need it!
Or, maybe I heard this video wrong, but it seems NP is going to fly 2 total hours every weekend. Can't pay any bills with that business model

  9. I understand that Northern Marianas Airways are mulling wet lease of initially two of Northern Pacific 757-200 and maybe further lease of another two. All four of Northern Pacific Airways 757's are recorded as inactive and in storage.

  10. At the time of writing this, 18 flights are scheduled to run till the end of July 2023, 9 flights in each direction.
Why such a short time in running there inaugural route if they believe its going to be successful for them.

  13. That makes very little economic sense. That is only 171 nautical miles. They are never going to cover the operating costs of the 757 doing that. It may just dig them a hole that will be difficult to get out of.
