  1. 17:23 "Looseness: 43%"
It COULD refer to the percent of looseness in eighth note subdivisions.
Jacob likes Moroccan influenced eighth note subdivisions ( 31:18 ) that divide a quarter note into 7 equal parts and weight the eighths 4/7 and 3/7. 3/7 = 43% of the beat. When I saw 43% my mind quickly estimated that 3/7 was about right. It turns out that 3/7 = 0.42857… or 43%. Is that what "Looseness: 43%" means? No. Probably not. But yet, there it is.

  2. Jacob’s music is almost fractal – there is more beauty the more you strip away that accomplishes a very specific artistic vision without the listener even being able to pinpoint it. Truly incredible ❤️❤️

  3. This so is interesting and inspiring. I use logic and I’m currently working on my 2nd album. I’m just shocked at how many tracks there are! Like I feel like I’m using loads when there’s like 40! So sick though, love the song too.

  4. I really got into music because of Michael Jackson. Also love artist like Stevie Wonder and Prince. And bands like Queen and so much more artist. But I was so lost losing Michael Jackson and then Prince. I felt like music was dead. But God always passes the new torch to someone special. And that special one is Jacob collier. I am so excited to be able to see him live this sep at the Hollywood bowl. And I hope he does this song. And I am happy to be excited for music for this new generation because of Jacob. These younger artist today have no talent what so ever. But Jacob has the old soul for this music that I’m so excited about. And that I have my own music studio at home and I have Logic makes these videos even more better because I’m learning a lot from him.

Cool. Something about this process reminds me a lot of David Byrne. Your dissection of sounds is mind blowing. Thanks for the breakdown of one of your songs. Keep making your audiences sing in harmony. Love that.
