  1. If she wrote it before, as she claims, doesn't it make her an accomplice by planting the seed (forethought) of murder? It's clearly emotionally manipulative. Before or after, she is trying to control her son.

  2. As a Mom who's daughter did move I'd never say that in fact when she was little I caught her stealing a loli pop and made her go back in the store and beg forgiveness of the store clerk for stealing, she was 5 and never forgot the lesson and further lessons about not committing crimes, having empathy, helping others, working hard and she is that person today. Teach your children right from a young age and they will be great humans in adulthood! I don't believe Roberta wrote this letter beforehand, she had to know there was abuse and him coming back in Gabby's car without her ,her missing, and them getting an attorney makes me think they were going to help him run IMO

  3. She wrote it when he came back without Gabby. I believe he hadn’t admitted what he’d done but they guessed that he’d killed her. Coz where was she and why was he back without her, with HER van.

  4. The letter just sounds off to me almost like she knew something was off and she would protect him no matter what…the context if you assume it was written before is bad enough. Assuming it was written afterwards then the Mom is admitting she knew he did something wrong and the insinuation that she would help him cover up whatever he'd done which is sickening

  5. I know civil cases are vastly different from criminal cases when it comes to the doubt standard, but if I were a juror I would elect to ignore the mom's letter. Regardless of the content (I try not to judge family dynamics of strangers – people would think my family dynamics are weird from the outside, too), the Petitos are leaning heavily into "it was written after" and the Laundries are insisting it was before. The only legal evidence for the Laundries' claim is Mrs. L's sworn affidavit and she's the only one who really knows whether or not she's being truthful; and the Petitos have absolutely zero proof, they're going on pure speculation. In turn, it would take a lot of speculation on my part as a juror to get to either conclusion, which seems irresponsible regardless of whether it's a civil case or a criminal case. I also think it's fruitless to try to determine anything based on where the letter was found – he had it with him no matter when it was given to him, it doesn't matter where it was found or in what condition.

  6. To me, “bring” implies that he’s told her about it beforehand and she’s going to take part in the murder (or at least be there before it happens to help clean up after). “Show up” implies that he’s already committed the murder and called her in a panic for help. That’s just my interpretation. I think it’s not possible to understand the full meaning of the letter without knowing her personality pretty well. I could say these things meaning something different then someone else. It’s entirely subjective. I’ll be interested to see how they handle it in court.

  7. The strongest reason I have to believe that it was written after is that she had the need to add “burn after reading” … why would she had the need to write that phrase before?

  8. Replay crew. I have been on vacation in Puerto Rico so playing catch up. Am I the only one with a mom that would turn me in for the smallest thing? As a family we know don’t tell mom anything you don’t want anyone else to know😂😂 Mouth of the south 💜💜💜

  9. To give context to the Romans passage, it specifically ends in many translations that we cannot be separated from the "love of GOD in Jesus Christ". It transcends earthly or romantic relationships. As a Christian, it feels like an odd choice of reference in this letter….

  10. If the letter was written before the road trip and it was just a mom telling her son nothing could take her away from him why would he have to burn it? If it’s so innocent why was she worried about others seeing it?

  11. The thing is, I'd die for my kid, I'd kill for my kid, I would do ANYTHING to protect my child because I love her so much. I am trying to tell myself that's what this is to gift Mrs. Laundrie some grace, but I just can't get by how much this doesn't feel like a mother-son relationship letter and more lovers or obsessive ex girlfriend. I have also tried to give the laundries some grace and think maybe they were just trying to follow the (bad) advice given to them by their lawyer.
