They grew up on the old blues. All self taught on their instruments. They are old soles.

These guys sound like Themselves! Every artist has had influences, so let the comparisons rest people. I've seen many of the bands mentioned and many would have a song occasionally similar to someone else. I'm 66, and I love these guys.
That beautiful man pulls this off every single night flawlessly, it's almost unnatural, he's amazing. Let's skip Highway Tune…just because they wrote it when they were like 15 and they actually hate it lol Try Heat Above, Broken Bells and Tears Of Rain (both candlelight sessions), Built By Nations, When The Curtain Falls, Edge Of Darkness, Safari Song, Flower Power, Age Of Man, but my favorite vocals would be Age Of Machine. There's a wail at the beginning of the song that floors me every time. Thanks for the reaction! Us Greta fans always appreciate the kind words!
Tears of Rain is one of their songs that touches my soul EVERY TIME !

I think you should check out Highway Tune for fun. They wrote it when they were 12 to 14 years old. Another of their rock songs that is great is When the Curtain Falls. Black Smoke Rising is a song they wrote that is dear to them and I believe they sing it at every concert.
The Led Zeppelin reference doesn't really apply to their music after their 1st release. He has really found his own voice.
I hear Rush as well as Jon Anderson of Yes.

Light my Love and Tears of Rain all have the “ Candlelight sessions” which many consider some of their best performances and are beautifully produced as well. I suggest you check those out as well. And, even better ( and I’m sure of your daughter is a huge fan you’ll be hearing it from her soon), that they have a new album coming out this summer, so lots of exciting new content from them coming out as well.
Enjoyed your reaction. You remind me heavily of my own mother and also my Aunt on my moms side so it was fun to watch you discover this band and draw comparisons of bands you knew. Yeah, they definitely have a lot of really interesting influences and that’s the beauty of it. This band is bringing back good old Classic rock music while still managing to be new and fresh and relevant for the current generation of kids and adults alike, which is a very unique quality for a band to have in todays music climate. 😄
They just dropped a new song : Meet The Maker : Awesome new song. Their new album comes out in July 2023.
The more I listen the more impressed and appreciative of these guys talen I am. To add to the list voices Josh vibes with at times include John Denver, Ann Willson (Heart), Jon Anderson (Yes), Steve Tyler (Aerosmith) Steve Perry (Journey) and ofcourse Robert Plant (Zep). The musicianship is top notch and they play for the sake of the song. GVF is a reflection of great music from a great time!! At the same time they are original and authentic in my opinion for what that is worth
