Everyone loves a parade. And when that parade is with the Boston Symphony Orchestra it’s even BETTER! Are the Boston Pops a marching band? Not exactly. But this afternoon Tanglewood is on parade. It’s a tradition dating back to the post-World War II era, and a celebration and fundraiser to support the activities of the Tanglewood Music Center, with musicians playing on the grounds and on the porches of the music halls, all culminating in a huge performance inside Tanglewood’s legendary shed.
Joining us to talk about it live from Lenox — in his private backstage dressing room, no less — is The Fab 413 Tanglewood correspondent, the maestro of the Boston Pops: Keith Lockhart.
We also speak with the first female member of the BSO’s brass section, Rachel Childers, to hear what it’s like to work with John Williams, and the challenges of performing some of his iconic movie themes.
And a young conductor, one of only two fellows chosen this year to conduct the orchestra, Armand Birk, tells us the story of his path to the podium at the Koussevitzky Music Shed.
Plus Amy Alderich from Tanglewood’s front office tells us more about all that Tanglewood on Parade has to offer!
Hosted by Monte Belmonte and Kaliis Smith.

How can a channel possibly have 8,000 subscribers but only a dozen or two views on its videos???? The answer is simple: you cannot write good youtube headlines/titles. Get a former retired journalist copyeditor to do this for you. Like from the New York Post or another newspaper.
