  1. I think Maverick might have threw Goose’s dog tag at the end of the first movie, wanting to move on, but I guess it’s easier said than done..

If we take Jennifer Connelly’s age as a gauge, Penny Benjamin (the admiral’s daughter) would only be 15 years old during the time of the first movie.. that means Maverick would have had a fling with an underage girl!! Maverick, Maverick,.. what have you done?.. 😂

  2. Matts reaction to this movie was everything I was hoping for. My family is Navy and Top Gun Maverick was my favorite movie last year. You can tell Tom Cruise but everything into this project and the fact that he pushed for Val Kilmer to be part of it because he didn't want to make a sequel unless he was on board it was definitely a passion project for him. Everything from this movie was amazing the characters, the acting, the music, the emotions, the cinematography etc. the list can go on and everything was on point. I'm not sure if yall caught it but the girl from the first movie Charlotte "Charlie" Blackwood wasn't in this one but I saw you guys were tying to tie her into the movie with Jennifer Connelly's character. Jennifer Connelly's character Penny Benjamin is a different character who was mentioned in the first movie and was the daughter of an Admiral that Maverick messed with but was never on screen and only mentioned by Stinger, Goose, and Carole. This movie is one of those feel good movies especially with the ending where Maverick and Penny fly away into the sunset and Lady GaGas music hits. I left the theater feeling so good inside. This movie while stressful was one of those feel good movies in the end where everything worked out in the end and from start to finish was such an impactful movie. I absolutely loved it.

  3. This is one of the most fun reactions I have ever watched! The intro at the Naval Aviation Museum was so cool, and the joking between you all had me CRACKING UP. I really appreciate the work that was put into this! Awesome job y’all!

  4. Kelly McGillis was not asked to return as Mav's love interest. When asked about it, she said she is "old and fat and nobody wants to see her again."

This movie was a fantastic sequel. I didn't really care for the ending. I would have preferred that Mav sacrificed himself for Rooster, but I understood why they chose the ending they did.

  5. Jen has to be the only person out of the 7bn+ population of the world that doesn’t like 80s music 😂

21:49 and the song in the background is “Let’s Dance” by her Labyrinth co-star, David Bowie.

24:01 as it happens, the NATOPS has every safety and emergency procedure they could ever think up inside it, so it is the only thing that would save them 😂

27:27 the look Matt and Jen both give Holden here 😂

    32:03 😂😂😂😂😂😂
    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I nearly passed out I laughed so hard, holy 💩

33:31 nah, that’s the limit the maintenance guys tell them so that they don’t have any work to do 😂

36:57 the actors were in the back seat of the two-seater F-18s. It’s against the law for a civilian to fly, or even learn to fly, a military jet. Tom even asked and was told absolutely not. He got to fly his P-51 Mustang at the end though (because of course Tom Cruise owns a WWII warbird).

39:36 there is a lot of foreshadowing leading up to the mission, and this is so cliche – “we’ll talk when we get back”. That’s a typical movie trope to suggest one of them isn’t making it back, as Maverick had already alluded to in act one.

41:46 “talk to me dad”… Maverick responds (“I was trying to be the father he lost”)

45:21 “how are we gonna get this museum piece in the air?” is the most apt dialogue as the F-14 they are sitting in for this scene is an actual museum piece (they CGI’d the engines in though, but the canopy actually worked!). The rest of act four is CGI.

48:45 well if they had armed the seats when they preparing for take-off, they would’ve been fine 😂

49:35 dude, that’s how I felt after the first 3 times I watched this movie!

58:05 CGI itself isn’t bad, but when it is so CLEARLY CGI, and it’s overused, that’s when I have a problem with it. In Maverick, there’s a lot of CGI, but it’s so good that it looks real. Only the final dogfight where they are flying through the canyon does it look obvious, and I know that whole act was CGI… there are no flyable F-14s outside of Iran, and there’s no way they could get their hands on Russia’s SU-57s (the “5th generation fighter”), they only have 3 actually flying 😂

  6. I watched this movie before the first, then my dad and I watched the original together.
I prefer this one more because there’s more of an objective that they’re striving for by preparing their assault. They’re both pretty cool.
Also Matt breaking down like my mom in the 3rd planet of the apes movie, while Holden tells him to pull it together was hilarious.😂

  7. Tom is a pilot and asked the Navy to fly an F-18, but they just laughed at him. They did put the actors in the backseat for a lot of scenes and even put Tom in the backseat for the carrier launch at the end.

  8. took my daughters to see the blue angels for their first time ever this past year. When they taxied up the runway they played the guitar solo intro from top gun and when the jets kicked in and they started taking off they switched to dangerzone. They were FREAKING out having such a great time! Really awesome family experience I'm so grateful I got to share with them.

  10. There's a handful of movies where a sequel brings something extra, complimenting the first. THE HUSTLER and THE COLOR OF MONEY, both are solid films, but together the stories go to another level. DOCTOR SLEEP did the same for THE SHINING. And honestly, I wasn't a huge TOP GUN fan, but these 2 movies are an excellent watch together, though both can hold their own in a dogfight.
