  1. REPLAY: I can't reply directly to PJ. Like Sherry said, there's no preventive that will work 100%. But take vit C every day starting with 1,000mg to 3,000mg (if you start to feel unwell), keep your self well hydrated, that way, if catch a cold or a virus you'll be able to fight it sooner.

  2. "Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life*think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success." *Swami Vivekananda

  3. REPLAY @PJ:
The real answer is that there’s no real preventative OTHER than masking. If you’re willing to wear a KN95/N95 as much as possible, your risk is less (although still not zero).

Alternatively, you could wear one in the airport, in the airplane before takeoff and after landing, and on packed transit/buses. That might be a reasonable option that doesn’t force you to be masking constantly – but it does increase your risk.

Less worried with hugging and more with handshakes!

Unfortunately there’s really no proof that any of the supplements, sprays, etc. work (sorry Sheri!). We don’t do vitamin C, Airborne, Zicam, etc. because there’s no data that shows any efficacy. All of that stuff is expensive, and if it doesn’t work, don’t waste your money!

    Other tips:
    – yes, sanitize your hands and frequently used surfaces. Tray tables, seat belt latches, armrests desk tops, all can have germs grow on them.
    – Wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands!! Many (but definitely not all!) viruses are spread by contact, not airborne. Washing your hands stops that chain of transmission.

    – consider bringing along Paxlovid for COVID (and Tamiflu if you’re high risk for flu), so you can start it right away if you test positive. No need to wait for a pharmacy!

    – yes, vaccines work. They may not deflect the virus off your body (if only!) but they can dramatically decrease the risk of serious infections/death.

    Hope that helps somewhat!!
