Game Description:

Echo is a horror visual novel about a small, isolated, desert town located somewhere in the southwestern states.

During spring break, Chase, a young otter who grew up in Echo, is back for a
school project aimed at documenting an event in the 1870’s that may
have lead to the town’s current state. He’s joined by five friends,
who grew up with him in Echo, taking the chance to have a little
reunion. Unfortunately, Chase begins to realize that their memories
of Echo may have been a bit rose-tinted. Being back in the town digs
up old and painful memories; secrets that lead to rifts in the group
that have been boiling under the surface for years. On top of that,
Chase begins to realize that Echo itself may have its own secrets.
Odd and unexplained memories that he always blamed on an overactive
childhood imagination may not have been imagined at all.

Finally, an event is triggered that turns these fears into something much more tangible and dangerous. Chase is now forced into a situation in which
he must help his friends either face, or escape their demons. Either
way, Echo is not keen on letting them go…

  1. Dunno if it is done already, this isn't a spoiler but it helps add context. In Jenna's route you get many mentions towards a specific event that causes a rift btwn Jenna and Leo. There is a short story that fleshes this out and I wish I knew the short story before the Jenna route because it explains Leo's feelings so much. But it might color a little how one feels(at least it did for me) about Jenna at least a little bit?

But anyway, it isn't necessary but it definitely helps. If it all isn't done I suggest touching the Leo and Chase in diner short story before the Jenna route

  2. With the exception of just one other route (you can guess which one), Leo's is imho the best of them all: by far the most haunting, terrifying, and painful (and also has my favourite music and credits theme). I'm really excited to see how will you guys react to this one. I love your commentary so much!!! 💙💜💙

  3. Weird point about your reservations about Chase not noticing a bad cut: I'm someone who's accidentally cut a huge gash in his leg due to a piece of glass sticking out of a trash bag, I didn't actually notice until I was washing dishes later on and felt a wetness on my leg. Imaging my surprise when it wasn't stray dishwater and was leaking blood like crazy!

  4. Chase may not be fast on land, but he gets the advantage if the Apocalypse breaks out when they’re near a body of water; zombies aren’t exactly known for their breast stroke. 😜

I see Jenna lives by the maxim “You don’t have to outrun the dragon, you just need to outrun the halfling”. 😜

  5. Oh boy. I like Carl’s route but this…THIS. This route is what really sold me that Echo is something special. The relationship between Chase and Leo feels realistic and complex and painful. And it makes for an incredibly poignant storyline that I can’t wait to dig into further. I’m watching you read this first argument scene between the two and…god it already hurts. I simultaneously can’t wait to see it but I’m dreading it at the same time.
Edit: Keith being able to recall Legosi’s birthday on the fly got me good.

  6. 25:20 life isn't a walk in the park – and I love walkies 😆 timestamp so you can snip it easier for your collection. Also, let these out – the best comedy is the ones you hardly realize are! (Is this how gay snark works? 💚👌

  8. Completely unnecessary tidbit of info but you actually do get a hint of Carl's thing for feet whenever he falls from the tree. He stares at chases foot for a bit awkwardly and blushes or something.

I wonder since these routes were kind of worked in chunks at a time if something was going to originally come up again in that route with that stuff, but then they decided to take the series into another direction. Probably not but it's kinda funny to think there would have been maybe another scene in Carl's route down the line.
