  1. I'm glad you got to this, and delighted you enjoyed it. It's a great Lee Mack story, and a lovely complement to "Victoria doesn't know this" ①. When I first saw it, I was 80+% sure at the point you stopped, "Our Predictions" (5:09), then Victoria and David made me 100% sure. ②
    Best Wishes. ☮

    ① From the same episode:
Did Victoria Coren Mitchell holding a wounded seagull snub the Duke of Cornwall? Would I Lie to You? https://youtu.be/-hY-4RMlN1w (3m:12s)
Dexter the dog – Would I Lie to You? https://youtu.be/W9FnqB9vBMQ (5m:5s)

    SPOILER? But I was wrong.

  2. You do clean a terracota pot, but you don't use soap or other chemicals as it's a porous material and it will soak up whatever liquid is in it. And in the words of David Mitchell, the flavour you would get the next time you'd use it would be too characterful.

  3. Yes yes yes! This is finally here!!

Every joke from Lee here is gold. especially that "the one with the beard kept staring at me! I didnt like her husband either!" joke and the "you don't know how I'm holding it" one had me dying the first time I was watching it.

This is just Lee Mack at his finest!

  4. Great reaction.

I have a teapot that I only put hot water in to clean it. No brush, no moving it around. Just hot water.
I know this type of keeping the smell is a thing. I strongly believed first time I saw it that it can't be true. No one would care that much about a pot. What do matter is that it doesn't matter if the wife care or not care. It is if Lee are so afraid that she cares so much about it, that it is worth all this trouble. I think I heard somewhere that the wife said: "I know. I've known for 11 years it broke". But I don't know if it is just in my head.

I have not noticed anything. 🙁

  5. Lee Mack's wife, Tara, isn't showbizzy and I doubt you'll se her on any of his panel shows. However he has said that he based his sitcom "Not Going Out" on real life so I guess you could watch that and decide which bits are real and which are embellished. The Mitchells are fairly private too, although both are in showbiz – as well as her poker career. It seems that David and Lee and Rob are very good friends offscreen so they do mix socially – and when the owners of the WILTY format wouldn't let them tour using the name of the show, they called it something else and did it anyway. Got to be good friends if you're going to do nationwide comedy tours in the UK – the venues don't all have five star hotels and being with the same two people for days and weeks on end can't be easy, especially if you got the lumpy mattress!

I dunno what you put in but I did notice that the shrub-on-a-trellis has disappeared from behind Blake's head. I don't mean to be rude (though I might be) but wth was that? His cats' favourite scratching hedge? Or the Aussie version of a green screen?

  6. There are two clips from Victoria on this episode that are both very funny. One is a clip called "did Victoria holding a wounded seagull snub the Duke of Cornwall". The other is a "this is my" game for David's team. You can find it with "Stuart – Victoria Coren's fainting fan, David Mitchell's lollipop man, Greg James butcher? This particular show was very funny and every story was good. There is one more clip of Lee's team also doing the "this is my" game called "Dexter the dog" from the same show. There is also a Greg James story "does Greg James take two hour baths". It was just a very good night of WILTY on this show.

  7. Yeah my mum used to have a pot like that that she cooked stuff like stew casserole she also would cook our pasta in it and a bung it all. she had it for years over the years the handles came off my dad would have to get a towel and lift it for her and the lid went missing then when it broke again and she had to get rid of it.

She absolutely loved that pot it’s a key part of my childhood 😂 she misses it when it’s brought up.
