Las Vegas Raiders Have Underperformed & Everyone's to Blame

Fresh off the embarrassing 24-0 loss to the New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels says all NFL teams lose. That irked co-host Moe Moton who tells Scott Gulbransen it’s a loser mentality. The guys revisit the Debacle in the ‘Dome and ask lots of hard and honest questions about where this Raiders team is headed.

  1. I'm a DC fan but I just want to say I'm 55 and I've seen the good years and I keep hearing they are bringing a lot of weapons on the offense but if your a true RAIDER fan it's the offensive line we need that's when carr does well we know he gets worried when the line isn't good if your a true raider fan you know this i like this show because all the rest of raider fans want to blame carr I think we can do better than carr at quarterback but we should know what to do with carr

  2. One thing I have seen that is consistently bad with Derek Carr is his ball placement to his receivers is horrible absolutely horrible and I never once hear him say that part of his game has to do better. Hes getting people blown up, throws to high, throwing into triple coverage and throwing it at the ground the moment there is pressure. He needs to step up or move on from him next year

  3. This last game does indeed seem like an outlier in how this offense has played. There seemed to be "something" else going on, injury? illness that had several players seem totally out of sync. Carr played really bad as did the Offensive line overall– the PFF stats are really useless–when it comes to judging O and D line play but that's another story. Carr made a couple of bad decisions in this game of stepping up INSIDE instead of Outside as he did against Houston; This led to two sacks–now the line loss on those reps but Carr could have saved those reps by stepping up and then moving OUTSIDE and throwing the ball away. He was inaccurate on a couple of key throws that would have been big gains but also overall the wideouts were blanketed most of the game. Adams was off and could not separate like he usually does. Renfrow, all season, is struggling with what the system requires of him and the coaches need to adjust. The Saints did a great job defensively! outside of one long run Jacobs was contained and they forced the Raiders away from the run–which i would have personally stayed with but anyway, SO I'm saying there were MANY things off Sunday and the TEAM was simply not prepared to face the Saints. The coaches are not helping these players succussed and the player aren't overperforming and making the coaches look good.

  4. Up front, I don't want to say anything about this game, because we all saw it, and we all know what we were looking at (utter garbage would be my descrption, but Scott's "unprofessional" is another, milder way of putting it).

I would like to say that this is not necessarily completely unexpected. Firstly, I don't really pay much attention to the "analysts" employed by the networks (all of the networks, including NFL network). As far as I am concered, the "analysts" are only there to hype the games and not to do any real, deep, meaningful analysis (and I am excluding Moe, because he isn't on any of the major networks). If we go back 4 years ago to the beginning of the Gruden era, we went 4-12. Team looked lost, was lost, and it took 3 years to straighten that out (I am including last year, with Bisaccia as the coach). The McDaniels era is starting off the same way, and for the same reasons: Carr is uncomfortable during the game because he doesn't have a good handle on the offensive scheme. Same thing happened during the first year under Gruden. It took Carr until the 3rd year of the Gruden era until we saw him run the offence properly. The root of all this is an offence that is way, way too complex, and takes way too long to get a good grasp of. The problem is not Carr, it is McDaniels, as he is the one who designed the offensive playbook (if it was the OC, and I do forget his name), then the blame is on him. I don't know if this happens to every other team that gets a new HC, but I can say for certain that it hasn't happened in Miami this year, with Mike McDaniel. Mike McDaniel has taken an OK, if somewhat underachieving QB, and turned him into a good (I am not saying great) QB that can win games. Josh McDaniels has taken (arguably) perhaps the best set to skill players (Adams, Wallter, Renfrow, Jacobs, and Moreau) in the NFL, and put in an offensive scheme that has two really great route running receivers (Adams and Renfrow) running into each other in the last few plays of the game.

The same goes with Patrick Graham. His defence is playing like Paul Guenther's did 2+ years ago. His defence was overly complex, and players didn't know where to line up, and were uncertain of their assignments even during the plays. Sound familiar? Does that look like what we saw this last Sunday? I also need to understand why we signed Chandler Jones? I don't have anything against Chandler Jones, and he is entitled to get the best salary for himself that he can. However, I saw no issue with Yannick Ngakoue. Maybe Ngakoue didn't play the run as well as Jones does, but he worked really well with Crosby, nad he was $11M cheaper ($18M for Jones, $7M for Ngakoue, but my numbers may be off, in any case, still considerably cheaper) and Ngakoue is younger. Somebody explain why we traded Hankins for next to nothing, somebody explain why Quinen Williams was allowed to walk, or why Philon hasn't been re-signed yet (and yes, I know he is re-habbing, but we really don't have any good DTs in my opinion, so we would get him back when he comes off of rehab). We all saw the Raiders have a better defence with Gus Bradley (I know he was overly fixated on Cover 2 and no blitzing) because it was simpler, and everybody on the field knew exactly where they were supposed to line up and where they were supposed to be during plays.

I am still hoping the Raiders win a lot of games, and make the playoffs, but I don't really expect them to make the playoffs. I do expect them to play better, and I expect that both McDaniels and Graham can simply their schemes during the off season.

  5. I listen to Patrick Graham interview he was asked about playing guys like Webb and masthson when guys aren’t playing well he said you play the guys that practice well not a good answer when Avertt was getting burned the whole game

  6. I'm literally the only one that said we would fail because of curl up Carr although we got Adams! If you don't believe me go back to before this season started and read my comments! As a matter of fact, I've been right about con man Carr and everything else Raiders related since before the 2017 season ended and that's my word! With that being said, y'all know who is who! 💯 😎

  7. The coaching is awful. The Saints did a great job of locking down the receivers. I was very surprised because their injury report was a starting lineup for the Saints but the coaches are calling bad plays. A great coach can elevate a lesser team above a good team with average coaching. The coaches never adjusted to anything the Saints did. Long passes when the Saints have a great pass rush is a recipe for sacks. There is no accountability. Davante has dropped or not got his feet in bounds how many sideline throws that Carr has delivered? Huge plays. Renfrow fumbling the ball to lose the game. Davante running into Renfrow. We can blame the defense, Carr, the coaches, the receivers but we need to get it done. Only Josh Jacobs hasn’t let the fans down. The defense left the middle wide open over and over. Taysom Hill runs the ball. Dalton throws to Kamara over the middle. Dalton throws to his favorite rookie target. This game isn’t the example but overall this season I will say that a good offense cannot outpace a bad defense. When a team is the third highest scoring offense in the NFL, they should not be 2-5. That means thirty teams would lose in the same scenario on average because they wouldn’t outscore what the defense gave up. Only the Kansas City Chiefs and the Bills score more points than the Raiders. So what, the Raiders cannot go three and out because if they punt it then they get scored on 70% of the time? Not to mention a ridiculously high percentage is given up as touchdowns. That’s crazy. This team would be 6-1 if they kept a defense to twenty points or less.

  9. Nobody worth taking in the draft. We need a vet that's wants a move Jackson would be a good fit cause of his contract issues . Mobility Mobility Mobility 2022 and we still have a pocket passer that refuses to run 10 yards ! Come on man we suck

  10. Thank you, the OL was a mess in pre season and the coaching staff went with it (when there was $$$ ) and every Raider fan could see the RT problem and more on the OL line. The buc stops with McDaniels, where is the accountability? There is none and now the Raiders have to live with this inept cheat of a coach because the owner is blind and inept as well. Why the hell do u think a 11-18 track record loser coach would be anything but were the Raiders are at 2-5. Please explain.

  11. Davante Adams was not 100%, but in all honesty the only players that seem to care about the game is devante Adams Max Crosby Hobbs when he's well Diablo and Josh Jacobs that is it.

  13. The whole team’s performance is unacceptable BUT the offense gets 80-90 percent of the blame no matter how many fans argue that the offense is top ranked or third ranked! Give me a break! They are talented but too inconsistent!

I’ve been told that 70 percent of the payroll has been spent on Carr, Adams, Renfrow and Waller and they haven’t figured out how to play together, plus Waller and Renfrow have missed a lot of time. They’ve got to also get this complex offense figured out because it’s not changing!…….Shut out in one game, Carr throws three int’s in one and then one of the first games, either the cards or Titans, the offense only has possession of the ball for less than three minutes! The defense has been gassed which can’t happen when they have no depth!🤷‍♂️……Not all, but a part of the reason the defense doesn’t look good is they too have had a lot of injuries, as well as not having much “acceptable depth pieces”, and they are all making peanuts except Crosby and someone named Jones???🤷‍♂️
Also Scott, I don’t believe you will or should get McDaniel’s to elaborate at ALL on ANYTHING!!!…..He did learn that well from Belichick about not truly giving the media anything more than they should…..I know we all want answers but I believe when times are tough, giving the media too much can lead to more internal conflict for the team! 🤷‍♂️
Just hoping and praying this staff can get these guys going in the right direction!

  14. If the team is not showing up and playing their hearts out for the games, Josh McDonalds lost the locker room. There are three phases of football, but the defense is not the problem. The offense is not playing to win games. I feel the biggest tank in sports is going on. If I was Mark Davis, I would fire Josh McDonalds for not game planning, practicing, and showing up and playing to win. I am fraustrated about the on field plays and product. What is Mark Davis going to tell Josh McDonalds that this is the worst on field product is stinking up the arena?

  15. Come on, of course close losses matter – you really think that losing by 30-29 to the Chiefs and losing 24-0 to the Saints is the same thing?!? Sure a loss is a loss when it comes to your record, but it's only a small reflection on how "good" a team is. Three of our losses this year have essentially been down to bad luck – the coin flip could have gone for us, but it went against – that's life… it's not an indication of a bad team. Throwing away big leads, and allowing other teams to get big leads, is an indication of poor leadership and inconsistency, but also shows there's a good team in there somewhere.
This loss to the Saints was just abhorrent (you can use that Moe) – bad coaching, bad QB play, East coast trip – all resulted in that "performance" – they all need to wake the F up next week against the Jags, or we're looking at a full rebuild, despite what they all said in the off season.

  17. Oh Now, they want to talk about Derek Carr?!?!?
"Carr Haters" "Emotional Fans" "Idiots on Twitter" and all of the other insults that have been thrown at REAL fans who understand the league, QB play, and expectations of this team, have been screaming this for 3-5 years!
We can't compete in the AFC with DC at QB, bottom line…. QB play and development has changed, time to grow up and realize Carr is a backup.

  18. These players have not bought into the new schemes….
Going from Gruden's West Coast and Gus Bradley's Cover 3 scheme to some of the most intense and dynamic schemes of Josh McDaniel's and P Graham is a lot to ask…..
This is a low IQ football team right now. I'm still blaming the players and execution at this point, coaches are not on the field missing assignments, having bad eyes, dropped balls, poor technique etc.

  19. McDaniels should definitely consider hiring a game manager like Hackett just did with Denver, and also give up the play calling. The HC has many hats to wear, so you have to delegate some of those duties. Be interesting to see how he adjusts.

  20. I love Carr, always have this regime has done him wrong. they would never in a million years say that they want to win a game for him, like the Saints said about Dennis Allen.
I think that is the difference between a coach that can win with a subpar team in his 1st year, compared to a coach like McDaniels that isn't inspiring, isn't a leader of men and won't win until he builds his own team.
