  1. I agree 100 percent with your comments. In northern states such as Michigan rust is a bigger issue because of all the salt used on the roads. Get any used car checked out by an independent mechanic before you buy as-is.

  2. You can tell when power steering is bad from the first test drive. If you live in a northern state where roads are often salted in winter, it's always advisable to look at the undercarriage for rust.

  3. That whole family looks lost in the sauce… I can't believe anyone would not even check the book value, to see what it's actually worth. Not even got down, and looked under the car, to see the kind of shape the car is likely in. I doubt they even pooped the hood. The kid, is just psyched, to be getting a car, that runs. Now, his Mom probably refuses, to let him drive the "death trap". So, he's just pissed his Mom wasted his car money, on something, he can't even drive.. It's like they just blindly let total strangers talk them into throwing their money away. Why didn't they take them up, on letting them trade it for something else?? They could have had it checked, first, this time. I mean, what kid, has his heart set, on an '09 Saturn, anyway(nobody wanted them in '09, either)?? lol He could have gotten a much nicer, and reliable car, for that 4270, they got robbed, paying that for a Saturn, period. Poor kid. I hope it wasn't actually his monry, he worked, and saved up, for a car. But, being a Saturn, it must have been his Mom, buying him his first car.

  4. I'd be interested to know where this was. In Wisconsin the cars have to be inspected by the dealer, and the inspection sticker is a legal document. You can still slip some sleazy stuff through, but they usually don't

  5. U always get a used car inspected before u buy it. I get a ton of clients from the used car dealership down the street from my shop 95% of the cars i look at r junk & need a ton of work tell the customer to run away & dont buy from that dealer. A 2009 saturn is worth 500 bucks in good shape in crappy shape its worth scrap. She paid 4200 for that car its not even close to being worth that hell i would laugh at that dealers face if they tryed to sell me that car for even close to that price 😂

  6. There is no way kbb would say that car is worth 4500 r u nuts its an 09 with a ton of miles not worth 500 the dealer either bought this car for way to much or got it for a steal saturns bodys r plastic so the bodies didnt rust but the frames sure did especially in the rust belt the power steering issue is prob that the frame where the rack mounts is prob rotted out seen it a bunch in jersey sub frame costs more then the car is worth

  7. The dad leaning to be seen on the web cam… 😂
To be fair red bull did get sued by a guy because he went full send on jumping off the roof after drinking and it didnt give him wings. So the expectations of false advertising being illegal is there but is also wrong apparently.

  8. This is one of those cases Judge Judy refers to as "puffing". The car dealer can tell you it was only driven on Sundays by a little old lady to go to the Piggly-Wiggly, it's still the buyers responsibility to check the car out.
    Caveat Emptor!

  9. The "dealer" is a scumb@g for even selling that death trap in the first place, but the buyer is a dupsh!t for buying the turd, and that's on them. The government does needs to shut down these shaddy dealerships though.

  10. My friend in Maine was not even able to pass inspection because of the rust of the frame. I don't understand how they stold this vehicle and I'd sure go to the secretary of state on these people to see if this car should have been sold.

  11. Please don't hold it against me Meg's Crime Watch, but I used to manage a used car yard office. We had some issues with misunderstandings on "AS IS" contracts. However, we would try to come to some agreement with our clients and most went away happy in the end. In Australia, the different states have laws to cover these issues and protect both sides.

  12. Yes, it is not hard to check out values of vehicles online.
You pretty much get a ballpark figure when you do that .

What you do ahead of time it’s get a hold of the mechanic and they usually pay them 100 to $200 to check out a car for you.
A lot of mechanics will do it on the side from the regular job.
It is an easy way for them to make a little pocket money.

And you still can climb under a vehicle on your own right in the parking lot. Just throw a blanket down and lie under it and have a flashlight in your phone camera and take pictures..

A decent mechanic can get under check for rust and also use a dongle key and some diagnostic equipment to check electronic components .
To see if there’s any software failures or things like your power steering is going out OR with your air conditioning they can tell by running the scans from the tool.

It is worth paying 100 to $200 to a mechanic upfront to do that for you.

A big red flag is purchasing a vehicle from one of those corner lots.
Do you know those small car lots that used to be gas stations at one time in the past.

Too many people who’ve been scam by buying vehicles from places like that.

As much as people do not trust dealerships, at least at the dealership, you have a better chance of getting a decent used car.
Dealerships can put them up on the lift for you to see if it has any underlying rust or damage underneath.

    In Sort: Buyer Beware

  13. I can’t believe anyone would be on the side of the seller. There’s nothing I loathe more than a used car salesman. No way in gods green earth should you be allowed to sell a vehicle that is not safe to drive, especially listing the car as safe and with no significant problems. Why should any company be able to sell a car unsafe and lie about it?

Edit: So I just had dental surgery and when they gave me the paperwork to sign the dental assistant looked at me so weirdly because I sat there and read the whole thing~
Edit: That's clearly the son's gaming setup which is interesting because he's a really good looking guy so I'm surprised he has a gaming chair because that could point to him spending a lot of time in his room gaming but you know the ladies would gobble him up!! Or whatever~
