Konami's Forgotten Alchemic Gem from the PS2 Era

Back when developers were rewarded by being more experimental and innovative, a little known game called Shadow of destiny was created.

Listen in as I dissect this game down to its deeper themes and alchemical influences as well as why we don’t see too many games like this in the current game market.

  2. question do you know a book that is more or less an overview for a broad understanding of alchemy I honestly have no idea where to start?

a video game was oddly put in one of the packet texts for my philosophy course you will never guess what they picked for messed up video games.

  3. Hey max love your videos . I still wanna know why you've mentioned that autism has contributed to you allegedly having a high IQ? I don't believe aspergers has any recorded positive correlation to IQ. please correct me if I'm wrong. You said one of the benefits of having high functioning autism is that your iq is 130+.what do you think autism has to do with IQ? if you read and respond to this thanks 🙏 I do love your channel

  4. Very interesting. So many lost and forgotten gems. There was so much thought and care put into games from this time. The mid-late 90s/early 2000s was truly a magical time for gaming. We've gained so much these days with production value/graphics, but we lost something along the way.

  5. LMAO Oh man. I remember I was running back and forth checking and combing over every inch of Silent Hill 2 on OG Xbox in like 2004 trying to figure out what to do to progress and was beating my head on the metaphorical brick wall the game had entombed me in. So I just started using every item over every place where text came up, after 2 hours of exasperated scouring over every place I had been to multiple times. Feeling dejected and hopeless, and a little angry, using items at places that made zero sense, I came to the chute finally, went through using what I had feeling stupid for trying, then the juice, I was told through text, dislodged…the key? Whatever I needed to get into the apartment complex, it's been a while lol.
I felt like a genius! Even though there was no logical thought process that brought about solving the conundrum. Lol

  6. The seemingly disparate plot points coming together reminds me of The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner. That was the first time I experienced this technique and it blew my mind. I’ve never really experienced it since then so thank you for the recommendation!

  7. I LOVE this game! I used to play it over and over, just mesmerized by the slight and mind blowing differences the choices resulted in. I always wanted to know more about the plot and lore and I wanted MORE! Thank you for doing a video on this game!

  8. Glad to see him covering hidden gems like this. I wish there was more of this. There are so many insane titles from this era that just got left behind as a result of "Just make shit everyone is already familiar with." Over and over. I've played thousands of games and when trying modern titles, 95% of them just feel like repeats or knock offs. I still find crazy, unique, fun new titles for Ps2, Gamecube and Xbox to this day. Mostly PS2 but there is still nuggets of innovation and uniqueness that followed here and there as games progressed through the years.

  9. Huh, it's not everyday I see a POSITIVE look at this game. Usually, I just see people crap on this game, and I never understood why. It's just one of those times where the hate just doesn't make sense to me.

It's actually refreshing to see someone actually do a positive look at Shadow of Destiny for a change.
