Gotta love Coach reads book!
I have some KO allies and leftovers from conversion projects. I am tempted to start them as an actual army with the new book, since I have seen quite a few improvements in playability and fun in your overview. Whereas I wasn't interested in the playstyle of the old book.
An important note is while Hitcher was removed all the units that had it can now ride in boats.
Thanks for the great video Coach! Really feel like apart from various quick spam list ideas, the tome is really complex on paper with so many small shenanigans and I feel it's better than what people give it credit for. Really looking forward to hearing what the more distinquished KO players have to say about it.
The change to Spell in a Bottle is welcome
I think Cunning Fleetmaster is going to show up a lot
They have other decent options now, but those two are going to be common (Horroghast, Purple Sun, and a few others still good)
Interesting ways of getting extra bits of shooting (The footnote and the Last Word)
Barak-Thryng prayer is interesting, but I think Barak-Nar will be the go to (Zilfin, Zon, and Urbaz will have their fun adherents but will be less common — I can see Zilfin shenanigans with 3 endrinworks)
3+ save on Thunderers is dumb
Doesn't make sense for them to have that and mechanically they certainly don't need that for their army role or to make them a more enticing unit

Thanks for the read Coach! One request would be to drop the background music. This may just be me but I find it hard to concentrate on what you're saying with music going.
Think kharadron overlords as allies have been killed. Used the gunhauler hauler to assist with tactics and shooting but now fly high is a faction command ability cant justify. Seems like a good shake up for the army though.
Barak-Zon with charging out of Frigates seems super fun. It's cool to see a melee KO list have some punch.
TL: Ooh boy seeing what's in this latest battletome left the KO player among us Tavern Knights perturbed. He did have some praises for how the units themselves changed, but from Spell in a Bottle becoming "non-faction" endless spells only STILL with no way to control them (even stated now) to the loss of aether-gold as a part of their mechanic has him feeling the KO have been losing more and more of the story he can express in gameplay. We haven't seen Path to Glory so it's possible the narrative of this army he's looking for is better expressed there.

Thanks AoS Coach! Great vid. I haven’t dived deep into my book yet , waiting on it to show up hahaha 🤣. On the surface it looks like I’ll have fun relearning my army, which isn’t a bad thing. Kinda not a fan of weapon ranges being reduced for an army that only shoots with no real melee back up. I get GW not wanting them to hang back and shoot, but if we can’t interact effectively in combat then dropping our only safety of range we pretty much hand ourselves on a platter to combat armies. If we’d been given a way to get around save stacking then different story. Oh well, a new challenge to over come which i look forward too 😊. Who knows maybe we’ll get a steam powered melee mech unit 🤔

great video. as a KO player, im very happy with the update, though i think they've made our army even more of a nightmare to play against lol. i dont know if they realized what they made when all the pieces of this tome come together.
