Kemon Lardas Funeral Service, December 14, 2022

On the Falling Asleep in the Lord of Kemon Lardas, who died peacefully at home on December 10th, surrounded by loved ones.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. Survived by his loving wife, Kalliope; children Irene Desseyn (+Herbie), Constantina Lardas, Rev. John K. & Pr. Eleni Lardas; grandchildren Alexander (Christina), Zachary (Lori) and Joseph (Julie) Donatelli; Vasilios, Maria and Kemon Lardas; great-grandchildren Zoe, Ava, Jack, Luca and Carly.

Born in 1938, Kemon was an Oakland boy through and through. He graduated from Schenley High School, worshipped at St. Nicholas Cathedral and worked as a graphic artist at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History after earning a degree from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Kemon loved creating art, especially silk-screens and pastels, many inspired by visits to Greece and the island of Icaria, his ancestral homeland. He was deeply devoted to his wife of 64 years, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Good times with family and friends brought him joy, and his zest for life brought joy to those around him. The excitement with which he told stories made you want to listen again and again, no matter how many times you had heard them before. Together with his wife, Kemon was the cornerstone of a house built on a foundation of love. Those with the opportunity to have lived there or to have visited are richer for having known him. May the fun and fond memories of him sustain them in the days ahead. May his memory be eternal!

Viewing on Tuesday, December 13th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Dormition of the Theotokos Church, Oakmont. Trisagion at 7 PM.
