  1. yeah Doom Morph confused me heavily for a while but I admit I do enjoy using it once i wrapped my head around it.

Anyway i'm glad Sonadow Generations was as fun as it was. I really do hope they continue on that design sensibility for future boost games. Heck, just make another mainline Shadow game if you like.

  2. There are two reasons why Mephiles being in the game makes me happy. A, it indirectly addresses how crisis city is present in Sonic Gens – the time eater is bringing areas in from ALL timelines where Sonics been. This might also explain why Shadow ends up in other future locations.

B, they had the balls to let Mephiles use the energy beam that KILLED sonic. Made me laugh first time I saw it

  3. I still enjoy Generations 13 years later, but I enjoy the Shadow story even more. Better boss fights, better level desugn, better writing, better visuals, better hub, better everything.

  4. I kind of wish for Shadow Generations by the time you get to the Doom Moon they used Westopolis for act 1 and the Black Comet for Act 2. I personally don't mind them using Radical Highway for the Act 1 transitions but just getting Radical Highway for the last 2 levels again felt underwhelming.

  6. I loved Shadow Generations. Far, far more than I ever expected to.

My childhood with the franchise was…in all honesty maybe the worst time to grow up as a Sonic fan.

My first game was Sonic Heroes (2nd was Advanced), and the earliest birthday I can remember was the one where I got Shadow 05.

I was so excited for it, I knew I was getting it but wasn’t allowed it till the day of. I barely slept the night before. Then when I did get it…well being a kid and pure excitement carried me through it, but even then I knew it wasn’t a good game.

After that I had 06, I had Secret rings, Unleashed and Black Knight (but never the Rush games annoyingly)

And then I stopped right before Colours came out.

The franchise had burnt me every time, and while I desperately wanted it to be good, there were elements I loved, I felt like it was only ever going to be the idea of that, never actually reaching it

I was out of the franchise for years, it was always in my peripheral but never centre stage.

That was, until I was drawn back in, specifically by you Johnny and more recently the Game Apologist.

While it wasn’t quite your Generations review, I did start watching at the Vs Sonic Adventure video. And it made me gain interest in Sonic as a series again, which I’ll always appreciate!

All that to say, Shadow Generations has finally given me everything I wanted when I was a kid. Playing it was one of the few times I genuinely have gone back to my childhood – and exceeded it – with a game. I imagine it’s what the Genesis generation felt like when Mania came out.

Shadow Generations isn’t perfect, but it is the closest I’ve personally experienced with the franchise. It didn’t just bring back what made the series great, it made it as great as I always wanted it to be

Thanks for anyone who read this far! I have rambled for far too long here!

  7. Everyone hates the "Whatever" line from Rouge but I think in context she doesn't think Shadow "settling something" was him going to Maria and Gerald, but rather him getting more revenge on something.
It's only when she notices him crying that she realises what he actually intended to do and the look she gives validates that she was wrong and glad for it.

  8. Sonic Generations was great to play again. I would spend hours trying to improve my times and find all of the different routes. Have some of the same gripes with the changes but it’s minimal.

Shadow Generations was so fucking good if not better. Probably my only gripe was collectibles grind and how situational the Doom powers were aside from the Wings and Spears. Great story, exciting gameplay all wrapped up in a Hot Topic bow.

  9. The reason there distaste for Flynn is because he has gone and tried to do "Word of God" on things despite Sega not wanting to touch what he is doing. A fact that has culminated in Sega now having to reveal his responses to questions because of offend he abuses it.
