“Against All Odds!” International Art Exhibition runs from February 3 – April 30, 2024. Art for Black History Month and beyond. This video inspires people of all cultures to support the arts. We celebrate the determined spirits who rose above hatred and discrimination to pave the way for future generations. This is an opportunity for us all to honor strength within Black people who against all odds found a way to enhance humanity.

“Against All Odds!” has the purpose of educating and inspiring people.  It  celebrates Black invention, creativity, and the rich wellspring of African American culture. It honors the determined spirits who rose above hatred and discrimination to pave the way for future generations.

Throughout history, African Americans (and all the diaspora*) have faced immense adversity and obstacles due to racism, discrimination, and oppressive systems designed to limit their potential. Despite this, Black people have made remarkable achievements and contributions in every field – from science and technology, to arts and culture, to business, politics and more.

“Painting portraits is my passion. I’ve been drawing as long as I can remember and creating art has been at the core of my existence. It’s always thrilling to experience the moment a picture takes on a life of its own.

I feel I’ve been blessed with a special gift and it’s incredibly satisfying to know that I can use my talent to bring joy into the lives of others. Conveying the essence of my subject is important.

Every portrait I paint provides me with the opportunity to create a work of art that exhibits both beauty and timelessness. It’s exciting to consider the possibility that one day my painting may become a cherished heirloom, providing deep meaning for many generations to come.

Having a strong spiritual life has provided a source of strength for our people for many years. Against All Odds!, is a perfect time to go to our God in prayer. Isaiah 54:17 says, No weapon formed against you shall prosper. Is a true saying that proves it’s self over and over again. I’ve submitted 3 drawings of people seeking help from God through prayer. It is a powerful way to bring about change in your situation.” – John R. Anderson
