Carb, California air bla bla bla . I felt with them when I had my shop . I say we should all tell screwed up California , keep you nose in your own state , why would follow an "emissions " leader, ha ha like California they can't control one city emissions , they have. !
Warren, Thanks for the video and commentary. Your right on about the Diesel engine Sunset. Infact, I see climate change lockdowns coming. We are being forced to EV's or walking.
Man i know that engine is prob pretty solid sitting on those stands but still scares the shite of me seeing you laying under it.. lol Sorry Warren for being a bit of a pussy
Great video Warren really enjoy watching you disassemble this engine. From what you were saying for that kind of money for a master kit from JD it will be interesting what is not in it. That comes with the aftermarket kits thanks for sharing stay safe Warren.
Hey Warren! I was taught that if you used a sharp edge like a small pocket knife and scraped the carbon off the the top edge of the pistion liner, the pistons can be removed eaiser. I tried it and it works well. Just passing it along.
Thanks for putting up part 3, i was waiting to see this engine with all the crap off of it, and i agree this is the most interesting part. I live in michigan, and i hate the cold, especially since I'll be 52 in march, the cold just makes the pain worse, the bones don't a like it. I'm not crazy about high 90's, but it beats the cold. Appreciate you making these video's, most of us do, but there's always a dumbass in the comment section without a lick of sense, because they spent it at the dime store. G-d bless you and your family, and all the furry kid's.
Thanks for the ride, losts of friggin parts .. few pieces of angle iron sure would make a awsome stand,I know you don;t have time, but we don´t want one of those big ass blocks to fall on you and break your rings ? Be Safe, See Ya
Really appreciate your videos and work. You are absolutely correct in your facts about EGR and emission “green earth “ killing what would be well made engines. There is a John Deere PIP kit that was put out to help customers rebuild the 9 liter engine because of this failure. It is a cost share based on hours and year age of tractor by serial #. Currently this rebuild out of pocket at Deere averages $30K for the 9 liter I just recently did an estimate for a customer. And yes you are better rebuilding what you have than a reman. Thank you.
Hey you safety guys! He was laying under a 9 liter diesel engine on 4 jack stands and the jack stands were mismatched so in theory that means one side can let go and the whole thing fall on him right? Or how about is a jet takes off from Sydney Australasia and the pilot gives it too much thrust and the earth shudders slightly that causes gravity to fail for a slit second then that is a safety hazard right? right? I know I am right! There is now 71 comments all you safety Sallies fill up the comments to tell us all what a bad job he is doing (You don't know it but any comment you put here helps his channel) come on now.. type till your fingers are raw. Warren. Devoted viewer. 66 yrs Logger. Construction guy wise. It was great to see you doing some good old. Hand ratcheting. Great channel. Thanks for sharing
Agree with you completely on Diesel engines they have been regulated into complete piles of ship. Like Obama said if we don’t like it we will regulate you out of business. Why did my 1978 rabbit diesel get 50 mpg and my new Prius gets 50 mpg. Something wrong with this picture.
Always very interesting to watch you tear an engine down Always learning . Thanks Warren. Great video. Thanks for sharing, safe travels 🙏 Saskatchewan 🇨🇦
Hey Warren, you’re really getting after it. Amazing how much damage is caused with the broken rings. Been interesting to hear how many hours that had on it an wether that’s about par for the hours. Thanks much for sharing with us. Your doing good!
Show them warren how it’s done you don’t need top of the range snap on tools not like these so called mechanics that spend more time showing there tools off Top man love you all xx
I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on a heavy duty engine stand so I made my own from some scrap steel. I bought a hub and weld on trailer axle spindle from tractor supply for my rotation. I still have to figure out some type of a gearbox so I can rotate the engine easily.
I agree with your take on the diesel engine. The advantages they had are gone now that the diesel engine needs to be cleaned up. They should just go back to high torque low rpm gasoline engines. They made them 60 years ago. The gasoline engines should be easier to clean up now with the modern technology.
So if an engine is made to eat it's own crap just to keep some test numbers line up to the charts. Forget about longevity and ease of maintenance, idiots keep complicating crap till nothing makes sense anylonger. Ranting for reason here, We The People have to save this nation from destruction. And a smoother functioning business world is more profittable for all. Have a nice week Warren.
How many miles on your service truck now warren? Old girl has been pretty sweet to you. 6BT with an Eaton, pretty cool setup. At least you can still run that shit up there, I’m couple hundred miles south from you, need I say more?
I guess you can run a real diesel on just about anything except it's own excriment. Nice of you to explain on how the ring's get broken. The last shot show's liner putrusion clearly I thought. Thank you for sharing, made for an enjoyable early morning. Looking forward to pt4
I'm not from the north. You start talking zero and I start talking negative ghost rider I'm not going outside. Heat I can tolerate but I don't like cold
a guy would think if the engine oil and filters were changed the engine would last longer than the machine
Cool
I think they design engines to fail, not last. Farm eqiupmment working miles from populated areas, go figure. Great vid, thanks.
Love them engine repairs

Warren you dropped a valve bridge at 6:35 in the video as you was transferring them to the bench.
I'm continually amazed at how one person can do the whole job.
Hey Warren! I was taught that if you used a sharp edge like a small pocket knife and scraped the carbon off the the top edge of the pistion liner, the pistons can be removed eaiser. I tried it and it works well. Just passing it along.
Thank you warren for the video. 👍👍🍿🍿
