Jiya Rai: Against the Tide, Against All Odds

At two, she was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. At 10, she became a National Open Sea Champion. At 15, she was awarded the prestigious Shriver-Kennedy Student Achievement Award for her performance in Open Water Swimming. At 16, she defied all challenges to become the fastest para-swimmer in the world to swim across the English Channel. A future Paralympian in the making, Maritime Knowledge Syndicate is proud to present the story of Jiya Rai, a spirited young achiever from the naval community who has brought laurels to the country in the field of open sea swimming and wishes her more success ahead.
