The whole him imprinting on her was always weird to me because the connotations around imprinting is romantic the majority of the time. It almost always blooms into romance if it didn't start that way.
The wolf who imprints sees years into the future with the imprintee.
I understand that it doesn't always have romantic connotations which was later revealed when Bella confronted him about it and Jacob said "it's not like that. Do you think Edward would let me live if it was?".
