I’ve just disembarked a winter cruise that was unlike any other, we visited 21 ports in 4 days!
I was onboard the Havila Polaris and each day our stops were between 15 minutes and 2 hours. Ever wondered how a Norwegian coastal ferry compares to a regular cruise? I’ll tell you all! I can’t wait to chat!
Usual time of 5pm UK (12pm Eastern). See you later alligators!

QUESTION With ships overbooking & having left some cruisers behind, will you switch from guaranteed bookings to selecting your room?
Darn, apparently, I missed by just a touch. Love your cruising videos. Such fantastic insight, Emma. Hope to catch one eventually
emma love your video's how do you afford all these cruises , i can't find anyone to go with me so the price is so much any advice
sorry I missed your live. brand new to cruising and you are my favourite spokesperson. (being Canadian, I love your British-isms. We use many of the British terms but have mostly have fallen into the US terms)
ooh, Hudson showed up
Love the new t-shirt
Determined to see those northern lights? 😉
I think I just saw a blurb on The Travel Scouts that said Marella was going to start sailing out of Galveston, Texas in the not too distant future! They have purchased a huge building they are setting up as their terminal. I was surprised and pleased. Hope it’s true. Maybe you can find out more about it. Love your videos and live chats. Looking forward to getting Captain Hudson number four. My (orange) cat Mindy wants to meet Hudson! 😻❤️
What do you think about the Norwegian cruise lines Antarctica fiasco?
would you recommend a celebrity cruise ?
Have you ever arranged to permanently disembark from a ship at the next to last port? I've seen some East to West repositioning cruises where they hit 2 ports in the USA at the end, and the first one of the two is far more convenient for me.
Yay Dan!
Woop! 🙌 Thanks for the mention 🎉
Oh no….youve given us a heads up about the Cunard donuts…we board QM2 today…guess now we have to try one…lol
My hubby and I did the full roundtrip Bergen-Kirkenes-Bergen sailing last DECEMBER (during Polar Night) on the OG Norwegian coastal ferry, Hurtigruten, which stops at same ports as Havila — but 34 of them in each direction when you do full roundtrip! Some stops were as short as 15 minutes, but others were 2 hours, 4 hours, and we even had 12 full hours in Alesund. We LOVED everything about our experience, despite the frigid temperatures and snow storms — and we're from South Florida (near Ft. Lauderdale).
@Emma Cruises,
Do you think you will book a cruise on Icon of the Sea?
For what it's worth, I do not have a good feeling about that one.
It looks like it has too many places for people to fall into the water… especially in the water park area.
Hi Emma if your not interested please delete but may I ask how do you book your cruises as I am a independent travel agent under Inteletravel and was wondering if you might be interested in becoming 1 yourself to save you money booking your own cruises
Looking forward to the two cruises I have booked this year! You have peaked my interest into cruising. Will comment later in the year once I have completed my adventures!
That is one sexy thumbnail!! 😍
Where did you
Find your “gear” people in London are being mugged for canada goose jackets 🙈
Maybe you can have Hudson’s paw with ink once and then make a stamp out of it. Just brainstorming here 🙂
Q.I've never been on a cruise and am based in Sydney, Australia 🇦🇺.
I find it all a bit overwhelming to find best option as a solo traveller and have even considered a repositioning cruise.
Appreciate any thoughts, tips or websites.
Hope Norway was special. That would be my dream cruise 🛳 as I love the cold 🥶
Question Do you book a balcony Only if the locale dictates ❤
Cruise ship desserts are a bit disappointing as a rule … but you can't go wrong with a chocolate lava cake and ice cream or some of the flourless chocolate cakes. Desserts often LOOK better than they taste.
I have nothing to say, I just want to see more of your videos come up 😀
I think its only USA/Canada that hasn’t adopted the A series method for paper sizes, the rest of the world is on board!
Are you going on Queen Anne?? 🚢
We did Bergen to Kirkenes last March on Hurtigruten’s Richard With. Spent three nights in K and did tours at the Snowhotel. Just the most magical trip ever!
My friend was I think was on your cruise. She was on a Norway coast cruise up and back. What was your dates and ship?
Something is wrong with the audio… My phone audio is working fine, but this video is mute.
Now Tannoy IS a Britishism!! 🤣😂
All coastlines are infinite in length. Depends on the size of your ruler.
Question:
I’m looking at 19 days around Australia and new zealand on celebrity cruises, would you recommend this?
Never found a bad creme brulee on a cruise ship 🚢
"not chalk and cheese" would mean they're alike or the same. They're "chalk and cheese" means they're not the same. 😂
The norwegian coastal express vessels are NOT ferries… The line is a person/cargo-route run by two operators (Havila and Hurtigruten) who have slightly different offers in terms of facilities etc. on their ships. Depending on the individual ship, Hurtigruten offers the ability to transport a limited (10-20) personal cars as cargo from port to port. Havila only offers this between the endports (Bergen and Kirkenes). To be able to load/unload cars at the proper ports, the Hurtigruten-crew needs to "shuffle the cars" around in the cargobay or sometimes put cars ashore during the "tetris"-action.
In addition to the regular port-to-port person/cargo transport, the two operators offers cruise options (this is a different service with dedicated cabins not available for port-to-port travel).
We also have cruise-ferries, like Colorline's "Color Fantasy" and "Color Magic" (Norway-Germany), Fjordline's "Bergensfjord" and "Stavangerfjord" (Norway-Denmark) and DFDS's «Pearl Seaways», «Crown Seaways», «King Seaways» and «Princess Seaways» (Norway-Denmark). These ships are proper car ferries with "cruise-accomodations" in terms of cabins, shops, restaurants, entertainment etc.
I got your Christmas card about 2 weeks ago.
That dinner with the curtain is the Chef's Table (I did it on my last Princess cruise on Discovery Princess). We didn't eat with the captain the restaurant director (whatever is official title is) was there and the executive chef explained everything. I also ate at 360 which was amazing.
