People often have the misconception that Vegan food is expensive and this is because they immediately associate Vegan food to things like almond milk and mock meats. Those foods are not necessary to be Vegan at all. If we simply stick to our traditional Indian foods and also consume a B12 supplement we can get all the nutrients our body needs.
Instead of using impoverished people who cannot even afford basic food as an excuse to remain a non vegan let us use our privilege to live Vegan and create a society where even impoverished people get Vegan options.

This completely misses the real question: How much does it cost to obtain all of the essential nutrients in adequate amounts per day? How many different plants must one buy and consume to supply all of the essential nutrients every day?
