Science-fiction is all about big ideas and pushing boundaries, but since the genre is so open-ended, it’s also filled with stories that go a bit too far, especially on the big screen. Sci-fi cinema can certainly be sweet and kid-friendly, but it’s also home to some of the most nightmarish sequences ever committed to celluloid. Unlike straight horror, there’s an awe-inspiring and mind-bending element to disturbing sci-fi, and it often takes viewers to some pretty twisted places. Even if you go in expecting it, there are times when you get a little more than what you bargained for. Here are a few sci-fi movies that went too far.

I love The Thing, one of my favorite movies, and like other movies n this list. To me no , didn't go that far.

Fire in the Sky legit gave me PTSD. I had nightmares for weeks. I had to see a therapist and we found out I was abducted as a child from a McDonalds while I was playing in that tub of balls thing. Turns out the aliens dressed up as Ronald McDonald and the Blue whale looking dude and walked me right out of the building and into their spaceship in the parking lot. They didn't return me until 9 years later. My parents didn't even bother to report me missing because it saved them like $50,000 a year.

Society needs a remake that removes all the comedic elements and doubles down on the Cronenberg-style body horror(but no ass-faces).

To far? Not far enogh! And i watched the OG Alien 3. You think that all and what you showed is to far? Thats why i PRAY and DEMAND that we use ANIME for all future film productions. Why? Because we can cross ANY line with that! As its anime, so not real so anything goes.
Also : Who in their right mind would go without trailer/ad's/others into a movie?…. even back then we would WATCH TRAILER (also Ep2's teaser trailer back then where among some of the best and not showing anything realy (shure we got to see 2 lightsabers prior to watching anakin vs doku, yet that was about it(no yoda reveal, no clone army, nothing)
Also: This list and vid only prove how uptight the US is. You think anything in them went to far? Yea to far for you, ONE PERSON, perhaps. For the whole of movie watchers? Nope. We still want an 21+ AVP and a more bright version of AVP2. We want return to TRUE HORROR from alien proper, not the childsplay we get these day's!

The release of the film fire in the sky had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the X-Files; fire in the sky was released in March of 1993, the pilot episode of the x-files was released in September of 1993.

As a kid, I begged my mom to see Fire in the Sky. She had no idea what it was about. I had to cover my eyes for most of the movie. Im still traumatized as an adult and I still cannot finish the movie.

I don’t know how you can say these movies went too far. Problem is now the world’s got too many snowflakes. I think everything‘s too far or offensive things keep up this way everything’s gonna be censored eventually people should be able to say what they want and watch what they want. That’s why you’ve got a remote if you don’t like what’s on TV or streaming or whatever then don’t watch it just turn it off, but don’t ruin it for the ones of us that wanna watch that kind of stuff
