Is Creepshow 2 The Best Anthology Sequel?

It’s hard for a sequel to be better than the original; no, hey! Don’t close the video, and please hold all hate in the comments until the end of the video. I’m not saying Creepshow 2 is better than the first movie; that’s just silly. Creepshow 2 sits in an interesting spot as it lost its original director and writer (for the most part) but does an admirable job trying to capture the feel of part 1. It could be worse right? Part 3 is one of the worst sequels of all time. While I prefer its spiritual successor, Tales From The Darkside, Creepshow 2 deserves its time in the sun and is one of the better Black Sheep’s in horror.

  1. This was one of the first horror movies I saw as a kid. My aunt and I would sit around watching horror movies. She would be totally fine with all the brutal deaths and language but would rush over to cover my eyes if there was about to be some nudity. I miss and love my aunt she got me hooked on movies in horror movies, especially this one, which has a special place in my heart.

  3. Totally agree with your analysis, but as a die-hard fan of Creepshow 2, I've got to say this sequel holds its own unique charm! The budget cuts actually helped the film focus on three solid stories, making each one memorable. Stephen King's involvement with "The Raft" was a major win, and while the cast might not be as star-studded as the original, George Kennedy and Lois Chiles still nailed their roles. Director Michael Gornick captured the Creepshow vibe perfectly, even if he wasn't Romero. Special effects? Come on, that lake monster was terrifying, trash bags or not! Honestly, I'd say the stories here can go toe-to-toe with episodes of Tales from the Crypt. This sequel deserves more love, and if you're a true fan, that Arrow Blu-ray is a must-own. Don't sleep on Creepshow 2; it's got its own creepy charm that makes it a staple in my Halloween watchlist every year! 🎃

  5. Ive always loved CS2. Personally I enjoy it better than the first, which I know is sacrilege to some……but Ive always been a sucker for sequels that are often said to suck or be a step down from the original. Creep Show 2, Ghostbusters 2, Predator 2, Gremlins 2, Robocop 2, Hellraiser 2. All of these I either prefer to the orginal or put it on par with the orginal.

  6. Of all the sequels considered better than original I cannot believe you didn't even mention Terminator 2: Judgment Day. 🙄This freakin' guy!🤦🏽‍♂️
And I love how everyone in the comments are fundamentally disagreeing with you about 2 either being bad, not as good, or worst than the first one.
I've always enjoyed 2 more than one.

  7. To be clear, George Kennedy wasn't in the "Police Squad" series. Alan North played Captain Ed Hocken in the series, which George Kennedy played in the "Naked Gun" films.

  9. Loved this as a kid. I found it scarier than the first. The chief when he comes to life and yells has stayed with me forever. Fear of lakes! Then the hitchhiker is just horrifying, you don’t know if she’s imagining it or if it’s actually happening. The first one only has the crate that is scary. Father’s Day is funny
The one with King is sad
Leslie Neilson is hilarious in the Tide one
And the roach one is just gross . I love both movies tho
