This 9-day Mediterranean cruise on Celebrity Reflection departed Barcelona to visit the ports of call of Marseilles, Villefranche (Nice), Pisa/Florence (Livorno), Genoa, Sicily, Naples, and Rome.

Celebrity Reflection is currently the fourth oldest ship in the Celebrity Cruises fleet of ships, debuting back in 2012. The Retreat on Celebrity Reflection features entry-level Sky Suites, Celebrity Suites, Royal Suites, and many more classes of suite staterooms. My room onboard Celebrity Reflection in the Retreat was a Sky Suite and I paid nearly $8,000 for this room for a solo cruiser.

  1. Hi Zach, I'm so glad you've given a review on this ship. I hope to take my very first cruise in 2024, and the 2 ships I'm looking at are the Reflection and the Apex (i love your video on that ship too) The rooftop gardens on the Apex are pulling me in. But there's something about the reflection….thoughts?

  2. I have never cruised the Med but have gone there many times. I would think most of the cities would be tough to get a feel in just one day especially if the port is far from city. That might be a me problem. I don’t get the the appeal of Pisa at all…5 minutes there is enough, half hour max! The food sounds great and although I spent a month on French Riviera in May, I wish I would have gone to Genoa.

  3. Good video Zach. Been on the Refection twice, last time May 2023. A fine ship needs an update, great crew , however it was no where near full. Food in the main was average at best. Reduced portions, not impressed with the food. Ocean view sad to say was a better option.

  4. We sailed on Reflection in July. The buffet food was great but MDR was not great. Tuscan Grille we really enjoyed too. We had a balcony stateroom and the bed was horribly old and uncomfortable. Totally noticed how the staterooms did NOT get revolutionized. We loved the pools and hot tubs and the shows and the martini bar and ensemble lodge and house band and live music…so, all in all, we loved it with a few misses that didn't ruin our time. 😊

  5. We enjoyed meeting you in Luminae the one night. We loved our time on Reflection, great ship. Not a big fan of the changes to the Retreat Butler service. I think we saw our "head butler" 3 times in 9 days.

  6. Last year, we did 3 Celebrity cruises, all on the S-Class ships. Our first 2 was a B2B – 7 day Norwegian Fjords and 12 day Scandinavia on the Silhouette. The ship was beautiful and very well maintained and the service was excellent. The Lawn Club Grill was excellent, and we preferred Murano over Tuscan Grille. We also did the Chef's Table and while excellent, quite expensive and then factor in the wine pairing, very expensive in CDN dollars. However, the MDR was extremely disappointing. The menus were so repetitive and nothing really stood out. Four months later, we did a 7-day Pacific Coastal cruise onboard the Solstice ship. We did not do any of the specialty dining so ate in the MDR. Again, same menu on our previous 2 cruises. Over the years, we have done many Celebrity cruises and was our cruise line of preference but felt that it was much of the same and so we opted for a change and our next cruise is on HAL. It's a long 35-day cruise so we're going with a positive attitude that the food will be better. Thanks for a great and fair review.

  7. We have sailed on the Reflection three times and will be sailing a back to back in October including a Transatlantic. We will be in a corner aft suite (as Zach had)…it's what we do every sailing on the Reflection. I love her layout, Michael's Club, the fitness center and the walking/running track that goes the entire length of the ship. I even love her shops, they are more "down to earth" than the glitzy ones on the Edge class ships so I'll be able to utilize my OBC 🙂. Happy sailing everyone!

  8. Thanks Zach! Another great video! We're living vicariously through you since our next Celebrity cruise isn't until April 2024. We know it's different types of food but curious to hear your thoughts on Blu vs Lumainae.

  9. Reflection is a great ship. It has a great layout, its size allows room for some great specialty restaurants (I still dream about Murano months later lol), and the crew were wonderful on my voyage in January. I had a different cruise director than you, he was from Chicago and his name was Rich. Great guy and very gracious when my trivia partner and I beat him in "Officers vs Guests Trivia." 😀

Having said that, and I think you're starting to notice it as well, Celebrity is beginning to slip a bit which is a real shame. Shrinkflation is a recurring theme on most major lines and it's quite noticeable on Celebrity where fares were already at a premium. The fact that the MDR menu now has "premium" upcharge items leaves a really poor taste. I'm looking into a January cruise once work's busy season is over and the fares are making me consider just doing a week at Disney World instead lol. Reflection is doing a couple ABC island sailings which are really tempting, but I'm worried about what other no-notice cuts may be coming between now and then. We'll see…

  10. FYI. We just completed our 1st leg of a B2B cruise on the Edge Saturday. Our Cruise director is being transferred to the Reflection, we enjoyed him on our cruise, hopefully he will do as well on his new assignment.
