Invisible Skin Soldier Camouflage

For centuries, militaries have looked for ways to seamlessly blend into combat sceneries. But the need to camouflage has never been more urgent than in the era of high-tech detection.

With modern heat-scanning methods, keeping soldiers safe on the battlefield has become particularly challenging. But scientists have risen to the occasion.

As Engineering professor and team leader Alon Gorodtsky of the University of California, Irvine, put it: (QUOTE) โ€œWe were inspired both by science fiction and science fact.โ€

And even though digital camouflage is not a new concept, recent research fields like biomimetics have allowed engineers to give soldiers the advantage of an unpretentious mollusk: to disappearโ€ฆ

  1. Go back 200 years, and your average soldier would stand proud in their uniform. "If the enemy see me, they'll be more likely to just run away… Hussarrrrrrr!"
In WW2, the troops changed from bright colours to sombre colours. "If I hide in this ditch behind this hedge and don't move. They won't see me!"
Then in Vietnam, cammo was readily being used. "If I look like a pile of leaves or a bush and keep still, the enemy will walk right past me without even knowing I'm there!"
Now the modern soldier not only has to fool the human eye, but also hide from electronic devices that'll pick him out on a moonless night in a forest when he's fully camoed up and invisible to the human eye as easily as a piece of coal placed on a small patch of snow. _"I can't even see where I am in this forest tonight… No moonlight to give me away though. I only hope they're not using infrared or I'm…" BANG!

  2. Besides it being an octopus, they are extremely clever and intelligent. I mean we're talking about bio nanotech camouflage and ur messing up ur national geographic facts. Kinda takes away from ur other fact checking.

  3. Invisible Skin Camouflage? I saw tape. But nothing about skin..CLICK BAIT. I hate video's that have a false title. And will always give them a thumbs down. My time is precious

  4. Why not having the material in the shape of a poncho allowing the soldiers to carry it with them at all times and the tape can be used to enhance or fix the light refracting poncho.

  5. So just keep showing the same footage of soldiers and scientists…not one of which shows an example of anything mentioned in the video. Then there is of course, not knowing what a squid is. I'ma pass on that subscribe button, but thanks for the effort.
