For centuries, militaries have looked for ways to seamlessly blend into combat sceneries. But the need to camouflage has never been more urgent than in the era of high-tech detection.
With modern heat-scanning methods, keeping soldiers safe on the battlefield has become particularly challenging. But scientists have risen to the occasion.
As Engineering professor and team leader Alon Gorodtsky of the University of California, Irvine, put it: (QUOTE) โWe were inspired both by science fiction and science fact.โ
And even though digital camouflage is not a new concept, recent research fields like biomimetics have allowed engineers to give soldiers the advantage of an unpretentious mollusk: to disappearโฆ

If you want anyone to take your video seriously, don't say "Squid" then show pictures of an octopus, or cuttlefish.
โThe squid has a lesser known abilityโ โฆ Thatโs an octopus you idiot.
Garbage. Infrared reflection is close to impossible.
Cutting edge Drone and invisibility suits, radars and visors, any sort of scanning devices and weapons and still….old fashioned infantry still is deployed. Go wonder
squid isnt clever? u should know it is way smarter than u r…
What if they spent that money to prevent war instead of doing it better?
I am pretty sure that squid is actually an octopus, yuh dummy ๐
I can hear the sound of the tape roll nowโฆ
Soโฆ doesnโt know what a squid is.
Click bate.
Zero demos.. still a pipe dream, by the sound of it.
Go back 200 years, and your average soldier would stand proud in their uniform. "If the enemy see me, they'll be more likely to just run away… Hussarrrrrrr!"
In WW2, the troops changed from bright colours to sombre colours. "If I hide in this ditch behind this hedge and don't move. They won't see me!"
Then in Vietnam, cammo was readily being used. "If I look like a pile of leaves or a bush and keep still, the enemy will walk right past me without even knowing I'm there!"
Now the modern soldier not only has to fool the human eye, but also hide from electronic devices that'll pick him out on a moonless night in a forest when he's fully camoed up and invisible to the human eye as easily as a piece of coal placed on a small patch of snow. _"I can't even see where I am in this forest tonight… No moonlight to give me away though. I only hope they're not using infrared or I'm…" BANG!
Brilliant
Besides it being an octopus, they are extremely clever and intelligent. I mean we're talking about bio nanotech camouflage and ur messing up ur national geographic facts. Kinda takes away from ur other fact checking.
He is just making all this up
So they're going to be running around buck naked?
Photo is click bait. 0:04
i didint see the tape work on someone what a dumb vid
Invisible Skin Camouflage? I saw tape. But nothing about skin..CLICK BAIT. I hate video's that have a false title. And will always give them a thumbs down. My time is precious
Re Subscribed Grate Videos As Always Nice To Hear What You Saying Now You Slowed The Talking Down Much Better Didn't Have To Pause And Repeat Now Your Epic ๐๐
They acquired the technology when we left 80 billion in military equipment behind. Largest arms deal/theft in history
All this for war!!!!
Dude sounds like heโs narrating an episode of Survivor Man
Dude, digicam wasn't about camouflage, it was kinda the opposite so there would be fewer friendly fire incidents.
That squid is actually an octopus
Why not having the material in the shape of a poncho allowing the soldiers to carry it with them at all times and the tape can be used to enhance or fix the light refracting poncho.
Anyone for a triple helping of waffle!
Soooooo… nope
Where can I get some? Fibrotex is also good
So just keep showing the same footage of soldiers and scientists…not one of which shows an example of anything mentioned in the video. Then there is of course, not knowing what a squid is. I'ma pass on that subscribe button, but thanks for the effort.
Yes they should be mocked and canceled for that mistake . Poor cuddle fish and octopus being called squids that's sepholapod rasisiam and mis identification. Now they need meds and counseling
What if they all dressed up like clowns? Big shoes, balloons, red noses would confuse the enemy and cost a fraction of what these uniforms do
Interesting, keep it away from criminals as it wound make them invisible to F.L.I.R. ๐ ๐
I spent more money on night vision, thermal, and smart scopes then I have on my vehicle so I hope technology to hide from them doesn't ever get is issued to cops in the USA. I do want our military to be invisible but I want to be able to see anyone who comes on me land
