  1. Since this is about one of the books instead of one of the movies, you really shouldn’t put photos from the movies in the thumbnail. It makes people think your video is about one of the movies. Better to put artwork from the books instead, such as the book cover.

  2. What’s so infuriating about Harry’s confusion about Platform 9 3/4 is that Petunia knew how to get on it but simply didn’t tell him. She had visited the platform with her family when Lily went to Hogwarts so she knew but didn’t tell Harry & left him alone at the station confused & frightened.

  3. I have these books too. I get them from my kids following birthday or Christmas, depending on what's nearest. They are beautiful books! 😌
The illustrations add a dimension to the story.

  4. You are doing amazing! I love that it's like a mother reading a book to her child and herself. It also brings me back to when I read it for the first time and would talk about it with my mother who read it at the same time. Thank you!

  5. I just love hearing you read Harry Potter! Since you said you appreciate comments about pronunciations, may I correct you on two? Seamus is pronounced Shay-mus and pasties are pronounced PAST-ease (not PASTE-ease. You'll make a lot of British people snigger because PASTE-ease are something like little stickers to put on your nipples, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong, Brits.)

  6. 34:25 You're right about the pronunciation of Ptolemy (with the silent P).
The pronunciation of pastie, however, is more like pass-tee. They are like a meat and/or vegetable pie but with an extra thick knotted crust on the side. They were originally made by the wives of Cornish miners, who gave it the thick crust to give them to hold onto so their hands (often covered in arsenic) wouldn't touch the rest of the pastie. They would then throw the knot away (some said to keep the ghost in the mines, or knockers, at bay). Almost anything could go into a pastie, and some said the devil wouldn't dare cross the Tamar into Cornwall for fear of meeting such an end.

  8. I actually love this reading/reaction mixture. Sitting down when the children are in bed, playing some videogames on my Switch and listening is so great.
It's even better than an audiobook because the reader of the audiobook usually has to be relatively reactionless but you get to stop and give commentary and talk, have human reactions to the material.
    Much appreciated

  9. To be honest I don't see any sense in doing Alan Rickman impressions while reading Snapes lines just because the book Snape is way different person from the movie version. I think it only distracts you from correct understanding of the character. I believe his voice should be more prickly, sarcastic, vicious and a bit aggressive. But anyways I appreciate you 🦡💛

  10. Fantastic reading. You knocked the hat's song out the park and your Snape's impersonation was great. Loved your commentary on the Weasley family's relationships as well as Ron and Harry bonding.

    Looking forward to next part!

  11. These reactions of yours inspired me to revisit the books myself. It's been so much fun to hear your thoughts and enthusiasm and to rediscover the joy of reading it myself. It's been so long I'd forgotten how different an experience it was to the films. The movies are great but there's still so much charm and detail that didn't make it in.

  12. Honestly, I'm not fan of audiobooks, and I always prefer reading those by myself…

That being said, I LOOOVE your way of reading, it's not robotic, it's raw, real, with emotions, reactions, I could listen to you all day long! Thank you for this series❤🥺

  13. I'm excited for you to rediscover this story! So many things that haven't made it into the movies! The first 2 books it's some little things, but starting with the 3rd book you'll be taking so many notes lol😉

  14. Thank you for awesome reading!
When you showed that illustration with Professor Snape, I couldn't help thinking how proud that fictional character would have been knowing he would end up in a movie and he would be played by handsome Rickman 🤭

  15. Ooh I didn’t realize you were reading the illustrated version until you showed the photo of the train! Aren’t they beautiful? I’ve been really enjoying listening to you reading, and hearing your thoughts and feelings on the series in general 🙂
