INTO THE BREACH – CHAPTER 1 CLASS TRIAL PART 1 OF 4 | Let’s Play Danganronpa V3 part 18

As BSG muddles through remembering how to Class Trial (remember, each of us have only played one of the games ourselves!), Daymon’s hatred for Miu flares, and we push past the obvious “beginning of the trial” mishmash to really get it started.

  1. I love the subversion of Gonta actually being smarter than he seems at first glance (despite not giving himself enough credit), and Miu being mostly unable to make logical arguments (despite her cleverness and bravado.)

  2. I've looked into Fate/Stay Night, and from what I have found the game is has a release of it rated for ages 15 and up titled Fate/Stay Night Réalta Nua (the original game is adult), which is only available in Japanese. If I knew Japanese real well, I would play it, but alas I don't. I would love to dip into a visual novel Daymon recommends (I've decided to get the Muv Luv games because of him), but seeing that it also has not been localized, I would either have to wait for it to be, or learn Japanese.

  3. One thing ive never like about using the whole moving bookcase to prove Gonta couldn't do it is the fact that we KNOW the bookcase was in the process of closing in the second picture of the hidden door, So Gonta could have throw the ball as the door was closing to kill Rantaro, but that point is never brought up

  4. I didn't understand the Gilgamesh level insult reference until recently. I watched Fate Zero, Stay Night and Unlimited Blade Works about a month ago. So I'm glad I get the reference now lol

  5. V3 introduced a lot of new quality-of-life updates to the class trial gameplay, and I wanna highlight two of them in this comment:

    1. Truth Bullets: if you press the X button to open up the truth bullet list, instead of taking you to the beginning of the whole list like in the last games, it’ll take you immediately to the bullet you currently have loaded. This cuts down tremendously on the time spent actually finding the right bullet.

    2. Skills: The UI for managing skills a bajillion times faster, with the list of available skills on the left and the list of equipped skills on the right. However, the really neat part is that you can continue to manage your skills in the overworld by going to the second page of Kaede’s student profile and pressing the button next to the “Skills List” box.

These are probably just little things, but they improve the flow of gameplay a lot, more than the other games did.

  6. 22:00 – when I first heard this line, I figured it was about Firefly, the sci-fi show that got one season, by the creator of Buffy the vampire slayer. "Leaf on the wind" was the pilot's catchphrase.

  7. the leaf in the wind thing, was a reference to the sci fi movie "serenity"(a movie folowing up the series firefly)

in it a major character says "I am a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar" (itself a reference to a poem kamikaze pilots used to recite) when he thinks he managed to safely land his ship only to immediately get impaled

  8. Personally, I think the obvious choice would be Delusion, which is an OP healing skill (slowly recover influence whenever you spend your Focus Gauge); and for that reason, Neural Liberation would be the second obvious choice.

In fact, it was never so explicitly stated in previous games that not voting resulted in death (there was a "Make sure to vote for someone, you wouldn't want to get punished for something so trivial", but never a clear as day "those who don't vote will die")

And Daymon keeps agreeing with Kokichi. Of course, the Ultimate Troll has to be the embodiment of "person you hate says something you agree with". Meanwhile, zero love for Miu. It's kinda refreshing to see players react to her the way the writer actually wanted. Lots of players love dirty jokes and swearing-based humor; making her an instant favorite among them.

PS: the V-point is always on the first letter, usually between its center and its top left corner.

PSS: how others eat their hotdogs is none of your business, hotdog purist! /jk

  9. 26:42 – One of my concerns when first going into this game was that Tenko would blindly place girls above suspicion. So even with the aggressive misandry, this line gave me a sigh of relief regarding her character. This and her watching over Angie during the investigation told me that when it comes down to it, she will not overlook suspicious actions from anybody.

  10. One thing I like about the moving podiums is the additional stress and pressure they can create. Like Miu being forced into the middle of the courtroom after being accused of being the culprit.

  11. I too thought Ryoma was going to be suspected because of his iron ball story; but if you think about it, Ryoma must had used one around the same size as a tennis ball (much smaller than a shot-put ball)

  12. You remember when Daymon said he's good at lying, or something like that?
And how he suspected Miu immediately?
I knew the moment I heard the first one that I couldn't wait for them to meet Kokichi.
I knew as soon as I heard the 2nd that this whole LP was gonna be absolute fucking GOLD.

  13. The class trials are the part of the game that make it obvious that the monokubs were just shoved into this game as pointless extra dialogue, cuz most of the time they'll say some shit, and the characters will just move on like they didn't say anything at all.
Strangely, that's the most comedically successful they get in this game: being ignored in an unintentionally comical fashion.
They are the circus, and the V3 kids are the collective straight man.
