Inspirational @YMCADLG young resident, Adi wins award against all odds!

✨Hear Adi’s message of hope over adversity✨ “I’m buzzing… I’m over the moon and can’t stop smiling.”

Adi was born in Eritrea and grew up in Ethiopia. After shortly arriving in the UK, Adi was given home in our supported accommodation in Guildford. Here, he was able to get into college and even pass his GCSEs. Through volunteering, Adi secured a funded place at @guildfordshakespeare where he successfully auditioned for the part of Hamlet! On Friday at @ymcaenglandandwales Youth Matters Awards, he won the Lewis Sewell Memorial Award (presented by the brilliant @arlenephillips ) for courage, resilience and positivity & a place in a West End show next Spring.

The YMCA changes lives! As Adi says: “it doesn’t matter where you started, anything is possible”. We believe that is true for all the young people we support.
