INS Vikrant (R11) | the first indigenous aircraft carrier of the Indian Navy

We are investigating the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, the representative of the new level of Indian naval shipbuilding capability. #vikrant #aircraftcarrier #indian navy

Why did India initiate an indigenous aircraft carrier development programme in 1999 instead of acquiring a newly-build or second-hand aircraft carrier?
Why does the Indian Navy evaluate the Rafale M and F/A-18E/F Super Hornet?
Why does INS Vikrant use the STOBAR system, which has an obvious disadvantage?
Is the Indigenous Aircraft Carrier Programme of India successful?

Welcome to our channel. All the weapon systems are like books, and they tell us their stories. The Weapon Detective investigates these books, reads between the lines, analyses, and tells the untold. At the dawn of the Second Cold War, the fruits of new projects give us clues about the future. But current weapon systems also have their own stories. In our videos, you can find technical information, historical backgrounds, what happened during the development processes, combat experience and political projection. While the Second Cold War is rising, Let’s investigate the weapons together.

  1. Firstly thank you for not having a cringe music playing through the video. Secondly really appreciate your research and effort in making these videos. 👏

  2. The U.S. should not sell any military equipment to India due to their ties with nations that are openly hostile to the U.S. and their interests. Any equipment will be reverse engineered and that technology will be shared or sold to adversarial countries. Let them buy equipment from France they will sell to anyone.

  3. I hate to be the one who has to point this out, but the nation of India is not the same thing as indgious Indians in America. Indgious Indians here are Native Americans. I am part Native American, a small part yes but it's still been a part of my life. Other Indgious people around the world are going to be confused by the name of the vessel just as I am. Why did you add indgious to the name? The people of India are not a minority in their own land so I am confused sorry, but can you please explain to me why so I can understand?

  4. It seems the INS Vikrant combat doctrine is based on the British Navy. Back then the British had F-4 Phantoms as the fleet defense interceptors, so in the Indian Navy, the Tejas MK2 would play this role in the future. The Tejas MK2 has Brahmos anti ship missiles(The missile that sparked the arms races would ultimately forces China and Taiwan to developed their equivalent called Dong Feng and Xiong Feng), and AESA radar with AMRAAM capability.

  5. It was smart to not count on the russian planes. The russians need all their planes themselves for their vicious war of aggression against Ukraine to replace their horrendous losses. And looking at the iranian support of the russian slaughtering of innocent civilians and a possible deal between the two rogue states, India would likely have to wait until they recieved their planes in exchange for new civilians-killers.

  6. According to recent reports on Indian Defence Updates YouTube Channel the Rafale M has emerged as the frontrunner for the new Indian Navy Carrier Aircraft and the Chief of the Naval Staff has recommended to the Government that this aircraft be procured.
