  1. I spent my wee hours watching the condensed replay of the Bengals game. The Burrow injury is going to be a huge controversy, it's immediately clear that it was a pre-existing injury that the team attempted to conceal, going so far as to delete video of Burrow wearing a black brace on his throwing hand before the game. This was a news story in Bengals world BEFORE the game and Burrow never appeared on the team's injury report this week.

According to the NFL's injury reporting rules, "The Personnel (Injury) Report Policy has been a cornerstone of public confidence in the NFL for many decades. The credibility of the NFL, teams, owners and team personnel requires full compliance with and uniform enforcement of the policy.

"The intent is to provide full and complete information on player availability. It is NFL policy that information for dissemination to the public on all injured players be reported in a satisfactory manner by clubs to the league office, the opposing team, local and national media, and broadcast partners each game week of the regular season and postseason (including for the two Super Bowl teams between the Championship Games and Super Bowl).

"The information must be credible, accurate, timely, and specific within the guidelines of the policy, which is of paramount importance in maintaining the integrity of the game.

"A violation of the policy may result in Commissioner discipline, which may include a fine on the involved club, fines or suspensions of involved individuals, as well as the possible forfeiture of draft choices by the involved club."

Failing to report the injury is a form of cheating and one that affects gambling lines. I would expect the Bengals to be hit with a very significant fine, at a minimum. Note that they can also be nicked for a draft pick.

  2. I think honesty and integrity is important with these reporters. If they can't get an interview with the coach, then say I couldn't get an interview but here's my takeaway. Don't just make shit up. That's what makes people lose confidence in reporting. There should be some consequences for her doing this.

  3. sideline reporting, injury updates/reports as the game goes. Any observations of the bench "mood" or details on actions of a specific person or group in general. Stop with coach questions. Just pablum to fill time.

  4. If we make the playoffs, then Steichen should be considered COTY, no AR, pretty much the same team we had last year, easily the strongest AFC the NFL has had in years and still make the playoffs 👏🏼, and even if Colts fall short, it is still an impressive first run for Steichen no doubt

  5. It hit me like a ton of bricks just seeing the thumbnail- this version of the Colts is not better off being in the playoffs just to get bounced immediately. Garder Minshew in a playoff game wearing a horseshoe- gahhh. It'd be painful. He's.. not good. I'd rather have a solid early pick than a bad loss that doesn't help anything.

  6. One thing about this bye week is that the 49ers are going to kick the Bucs ass. I think we can win all these games if we just run the damn ball 40+ times a game. If Burrow is not back for our match-up, I think we can beat them too. The Texans will be our biggest challenge with Stroud having a whole season balling out and will have his offensive line opposed to just one starter when we faced them week 2

  7. Does Chris Ballard need some credit for a decent season? Could it be said, it was Reich all along?

We have had a lot of injuries and the depth is what has kept us somewhat relevant. The Zach Moss pickup has been terribly underrated. This team could be a 7-3 team with Richardson and a little better defense.

Steichen needs to be a Colt for a while. I’ve loved him. He’s always learning, direct, no-nonsense, and a football nerd.

  8. Id say the Bucs strengths matchup poorly vs the Colts. Their WRs are good, our secondary is shaky and banged up. Their defense does well at stopping the run, Colts need the run to be in it. Overall we need players to get healthy. Zaire, Juju, Braden, Downs and Paye. Also want to see how Woods looks in this crowded TE room

  9. I think perhaps you should care a bit more about the Charissa Thompson bit than you do. Sure, the coaches don't tell you shit anyway. We listeners/viewers did not lose any deep insight. But is that really the criteria you should use to make a judgment on this? This is precisely the problem, the reason you don't care is because it's your chosen profession, and you accept dishonesty for the sake of media production.

I don't think it's all her fault, and she gets much credit for being honest about it now. The program director or producer or whoever makes the call to put her on while she has nothing to report is most to blame. That said, it's quite clear that Charissa Thompson's job is nothing more than to look pretty on the sideline. And that's it. We don't care what reporting you do, just make shit up, it doesn't matter. We will present it as journalism anyway. That being the case, I don't want to hear shit when she, or any of the others, gets replaced by someone 20 years younger.

Are the women in sports media making it out as something more than need be, probably. But, and this is rare for me, I can see their point on this one. Some of them want to be known as more than just the pretty face, or the diversity hire. This is a big problem for that goal because Jim Grey would not have done this, and he certainly was not down there for looks.
