This is a song I had to play one day! My drum kit was made for playing this song.
“Indian Reservation” was written by John D. Loudermilk, a singer/songwriter who recorded as “Johnny Dee” and wrote “Tobacco Road” for The Nashville Teens and “Ebony Eyes” for The Everly Brothers.
Loudermilk managed to cut 10 of his own albums between the years 1961-1979; he hit the charts with 10 of his own singles between the years 1957-1967, and had tremendous success writing songs for other artists.
The song is about the plight of the Cherokee Indians, who in 1838 were displaced from their home in Georgia to a reservation in Oklahoma.
Hal Blaine’s famous Monster Kit is heard through out this song. “Hal was the drummer for the ‘Indian Reservation’ session.

Great job Earl! One of my all time favorite tunes. Love the tom runs and they sound fantastic!
I played my drums to Paul Revere a lot in the mid 60s. Their first song I ever played to was an instrumental titled Night Train. It had a lot of Mark Lindsey playing the sax. Then came their version of Louie Louie and all the other great songs they put out. I thought they were just the greatest, and the fact that they came out of the Pacific Northwest made them even cooler.
Now, let’s not forget your drumming. As someone already mentioned, this son
These guys were a staple for my drumming in the mid-60s. I think the first song by them that I ever heard was an instrumental titled Night Train. Coming from my area, the Pacific Northwest made them even cooler to me.
Those tidbits of tomtastic tomfoolery enhanced by your colossal kit were the cat’s meow. Everything sounded so great, my friend.
Question:Do you know why the Raiders regular drummer didn’t play on the record? I think his name is Mike Smith. Why have a session drummer, even if he is probably the best to ever pick up a pair of sticks?
👍👍👍
Great cover Earl, i had almost forgotten that one. Jusr Awsome.
Spot on, Earl! ✝️🙏🏻
Excellent cover, Earl 👍😃👍… I loved this, my friend !!! 😎🙋🏻♂🥁
Very good cover!! I love all the toms. You did it perfect!!
Once again this sounds better than the original !! Perfect song for the toms! I've got to buy some toms! This makes me want them right now! I'll make them my early Christmas present to myself!! Great job and your kit sounds stellar!! ❤️🙏🥁👍🤩❤️
Very nice Earl. I remember this song as a kid. Your work on the Toms are great. I have a suggestion. How about gypsies Tramps and thieves by Cher?
Beautiful!
Sounded so good, great tone on your kit, solid playing Earl, really enjoyed that
This was so amazing Earl, great share, you’re such a great drummer, I really enjoyed it, rock on my brother
That song put concert Tom’s on the map! 👍🏼
Great cover 🥁👍🏼
Paul Revere and the Raiders started here in Boise. I used to love going by their old place, even though you couldnt see anything from the road. Absolute musical history
Oh wow! Old forgotten memories were resurrected here — this was probably one of the the songs that made me want to learn drums back in my early teens. Thanks for picking this one and, as usual, great job on it!!
Fantastic 👏👏👏
Sounds really good Earl!! Especially the toms sounds so thunderous!! Excellently played too!!👍😀
❤🥁❤️
You have that Hal Blaine style kit!
great work Earl. Another one of my childhood favorites! played beautifully on those concert toms. Did you add one on the high end? a 6"?
