In full: Liz Truss resigns and becomes shortest-serving prime minister in British history

Liz Truss has resigned as prime minister after just 44 days.

In a statement read outside Downing Street, Ms Truss said: “I came into office at a time of great economic and international instability.”

Her time in office has been dominated by market chaos prompted by the mini-budget that was announced by former chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng last month.

  1. Apparently Lizz was in 10 Downing Street for such a short time a artist could not finish her portrait for the stairs. Instead they settled for a digital photograph printed off a smart phone with that hallmark smirk we
have got to know so well! I am not for a moment suggesting that R Sunak was ballot box stuffing by having his accomplices in 1922 lift the threshold for votes. R Sunak apparently had his portrait painted a
    month ago!

  2. whyd she work to win n thats her job then quit? meghan quit, too there. if they say theyre not a quitter theyre thinking about quitting. but theres a 2nd to get in there probably. the king quit n' elizabeth got in. she had been in there our whole lives. but its good he quit so she could just do it. he kinda regretted quitting the fanfare that he lost all of the voters. we kinda got into power, but theres power in numbers, too. that dinner of the century party would have been where we'd have been near or regretted losing kinda maybe. we just got used to those types of people maybe so we'd say we'd missed that. this woman gave that kinda stuff up. but a new one gets in. still dont know why she quit. we heard the new president there was an islamic or hindu man or something and apparently its a woman. maybe its different jobs. maybe theyre not top ones n' tryin to bring a power down with a mutiny. LOL
