  1. That stuff is no different then rimworld so i don't see the problem, besides lore wise pokemon do eat eachother gamefreak just refuses to let anyone make a realistic pokemon game.

  2. Personally speaking, I don't really see it as… shock value, as you put it. These are the living creatures that exist in their world. Pals are, to the people of that world, what animals are to us. Some can be trained, or are moderately intelligent, some cannot, and aren't. Some can be ridden into battle, some can be trained to hunt, some are harvested for their utilities.

Like, would you consider butchering cows or sheep or chickens to be shock value? There are people that find those to be cute. Ultimately it's just an everyday thing, and humans evolved with meat in their diets.

Heck, Pokemon has already had stuff like that in their universe. Farfetch'd are a canonical delicacy, as the most obvious example. People look at the Pokedex entries and go 'hah hah, children wrote these' but like, how many of those are real, do you think? The anime doesn't go too much into it, but the games have always hinted at the darker side of the world, and the Mystery Dungeon games especially dig into it.

Palworld has been hinting at the darker side of its setting since Day 1. Its steam page and website descriptions have mentioned poaching, mistreatment, consumption, and the fact that different people in this world have different stances on all of that.

Are Pals friends to be treated well and nurtured, companions to be loved, beings to be negotiated with? Are they extensions of nature, a resource of untamed wilderness to be utilized? Or are they tools to be used, to be hammered into shape or disposed of if they become disobedient?

The first NPC you spoke with explicitly stated, outright, that Pals ate his companions… so, if you are not off of the food chain, why should they be?

The cuteness is a facade, and always has been. It's a world of brutality with a thin veneer of appealing aesthetic. If you want to change it, you must master it.

  3. loving look of the game i am super glad this looks as good as it was promised to be also will say hopefully mods become a thing to help cause agreed some the realistic guns seem to throw off the vibes a bit and seem outta place but at same time think it ment be that way for goofy factor

  4. Looks interesting, but I'm skeptical.
Their other game (Craftopia) has been in early access for well over 3 years and is still lacking plenty, now they're releasing this into early access as well =P

  5. Honestly the "shock value" is part of why I am interested in the game. We have tons of cutesy pet and monster collectors. I like how this one has more of an approach of yes you do eat the monsters, yes you do get materials from taking them out.

  6. I love the concept, but I fear that it will suffer the same destiny of Craftopia, considering it’s the same developer. For those who don’t know, Craftopia was a incredible survival game that was abandoned by the devs (probably so they could work on Palworld) and the last update of Craftopia got rid of various of the mechanics that made the game, well, good.

  7. Knowingly plays a game where you can force monsters into servitude and treat them poorly.

Tiptoes on eggshells whenever he comes across a word that might have some possible relation to an event hundreds of years ago because he's scared he might offend some person on the internet.

    Grow a pair ffs.

  8. If you legitimately stop play this or keep pointing out how the game isn't "kosher" because of the term "work slave" being used, I may just move on first. It is a game, chill out, just enjoy it and stop bringing real life into a game
