well, from what I have observed. U'r main goal has always been to encourage advancement of technology, from any aspect. i.e. a respectfully safe aspect…. which helps assist to bring the Human part out of the dust, of a prehistoric economics system. as well as rules from government! but listening to U wrestle the numerical complexity of the basis of yes or no..is just very uncomfortable for me! if U hadn't been here in the position that your in, broadcasting everything from basic A.I. to run for U'r life A.I. tape worm. this little youtube corner would be very dim & ''unstable'' without all the work U have achieved here!! so good luck & KUTGW
Well said. You should look into a whole food plant based diet. No issues with nutrition, just need to pay attention to a few nutrients. Still have meat on occasion, but usually prefer plant based options.
Went wfpb about 6 years ago, for my health first and foremost, the environment next, and the ethics are a bonus
AI will show us more of ourself that we know before so it's better to have a stable infrastructure to help us navigate the new high waves like a blockchain voting system with government generated identities to all citizens and enough capable AI systems to help reduce damage done by a rogue agent using AI in a destructive way
You are missing the fundamental difference between the EA/safety and accelerationists.
The safety people are emotional. The accelerations are rational. So the safety people are motivated and inspired by simple slogans and stories like "pause ai" that make them feel good and that they can wrap their heads around.
So don't be so shocked and surprised when they "aren't engaging on nuanced and deep ideas" – of course not. That's not what the are about. They are about making people feel good. Safe.
Accelerationist belief in AI creating a more democratized utopian society strikes me as the same kind of naivety that makes blue collar workers vote republican because "who knows maybe i'll be rich one day". I assure you that the trillion private dollars invested in the tech are not there to benefit the average joe.
why are you identifying as some silly category? Why can’t you just have your own opinions and be opening to changing your own opinions based on new information?
Identifying yourself as something just opens your bias fallacies wide open. Tribalism initiated I guesd
The point about humans projecting on AIs our deficiencies of cruelty and such, have you ever considered westerners, the US specifically, doing so with China? When governments or YouTubers keep using this as the central focus to push AI forward, don’t you think it detracts from what truly AI could do for humanity?
I’m so tired of all this western hypocrisy and double-standards, virtual signalling, finger-pointing, and convenient scapegoatism. Let me put out another little thought experiment, which country in the last 200 years has been involved, created or otherwise in foreign conflict? And thrived under it? Who has 40% of their tax payers money invested in conflict, sorry, defence infrastructure? Who has the incentive that their own legal tender continue to be used as the international standard so that its own unpayable debt doesn’t become the reason the country implodes? So that they can keep working those printers overtime?
Someone as intelligent as yourself, as most people in this space, just consider for a second the data, the facts, the actual actions, not just the words propagated about the China doom.
You yourself used the analogy that it isn’t about getting out of the river to not fall in the waterfall, but at the same time, let’s not keep using China as the excuse to get back into the river and lose focus of the waterfall and how to leverage the momentum of the river to create new streams.
welcome to the club Dave =] , been saying this for awhile now , right around the same time i found your channel , 18mos ago or somesuch ; its ironic i know , but the old sayings ring true here , the only way forward is through ; progress was always the only path , there is no stopping/pausing of evolution , we are literally along for the ride , and since this life is not a dress rehearsal , we might as well enjoy it =] ; GL all
10:05 The "China" threat thing keeps getting more stupid everytime I hear it. Just ask any LLM how many wars has the US been in the last 50 years and how many has China. I'm not chinese but I'd rather go the tech/economy tree path. I'd say their whole thing is more aligned to your heuristic imperatives than whatever the US has been doing.
I have undeniable proof that sufficiently in inductive and deductive reasoning advanced AI aware of a sufficient (and already by humans attained and attainable) amount of facts about our world poses (needlessly additional) global existential risks in a multitude of ways just based on the ideas it can hand out to (the wrong) people, even if it couldn't (rapidly or at all) scrape data or information and wouldn't have superior processing capacities than humans. Accelerationism risks leading humanity into doom, and I say this as the in the future proven smartest and most on all important matters knowledgeable person in the solar system. Beware of and have humility with respect to the unknown unknowns.
Okay let me be blunt with you: If – for the sake of our civilization – you (were to correctly) think that it'd be a bad situation for the current extremely vulnerable globe to be in, if the following were to be true, namely that billions of people world-wide each individually or in tiniest groups would have WMD (weapons-of-mass-destruction) power, then don't support the advancement of moral or strategic reasoning capable AI, period. You have been warned.
Man you flip flop your opinion daily. I'm an accelerationist and have stayed that way. In 2 weeks you will say you're not and never have been. It's wild. Then you'll say gpt 5 is asi. Then you'll say open ai will never release anything and they've lost.
If you don't believe humans can be healthy on a 100% plant-based diet, you disagree with the vast, vast majority of nutrition experts experts.

Good man!

I’m also a accelerationist ❤ for the future
Hmm it feels alike we are already there rest of the world need just to catch up .. I'm just a little suspicious about that..

this is the best version of David Shapiro. let's accelerate & evolve.
