I have been waiting to share this one for a while, and now finally itโs time to show my experience of herding a group of Icelandic horses in their untamed natural habitat.
This is no touristy trail ride; itโs an authentic equestrian experience led by the legendary Mister Iceland. Known for his unparalleled understanding of horses and horsemanship, Mister Iceland takes us beyond the ordinary. Youโll feel like a fundamental part of the process, deeply connected to the horses and the wild beauty of Iceland.
Our journey isnโt without its challenges; the horses escaped at the start, the herd got split up, and I faced more nerves than anticipated. But whatโs an adventure without a bit of risk? The rugged Icelandic terrain is both breathtaking and unforgiving, and falling off could mean being stranded.
Yet, the connection I formed with the horses, some experienced and some wild, was unlike anything Iโve experienced before. Witness their incredible ability to navigate this harsh environment and forge an unbreakable bond with the two I rode.
This video isnโt for the faint of heart. Itโs a story of risk, rush, and euphoria. Itโs a testament to the power of horses and the beauty of nature.
Are you ready to ride with us into the wild heart of Iceland? Hit that play button, and letโs embark on an unforgettable adventure together!

Absolutely brilliant vlog again Meg, I love love love yr vlogs, always so funny and educational too!! What I was wondering was though, if they are wild horses, how come they all have shoes on?? Xxx
Oh and also well done Pete, the filming was epic!! Xx
This looks incredible but also MENTAL ๐ฑ๐คฃ loved it!
It looks better than a roller coaster at a fun fare – which lots of people think is scary. Real life vs pretend real life!! Well done Meg and thanks to the Mr Iceland and team (and Peter, of course) for helping us understand the joy of free range horses (and riding)!!
How much fun was that! I loved how the horse's shoes gleamed as they galloped along that black volcanic dirt. You and Hodur are hilarious together. And of course, the amazing cinematography by Pete! It could not get any better! Thank you for brining this to us Princess Meg.
Fantastic as always!!! โคโค Riding with the herd has been my dream for years!!! But I really feel like Pete is missing out on the riding…..
Next time maybe??
Amazing trip and footage! Such a dream opportunity ๐ค๐ค๐ค
Yikes, that was amazingly terrifying. Glad you stayed on and safe. Lovely that you have shared this with us. Fantastic video quality.

This had to have been a huge confidence boost for you im sure
Oh my god no wonder you were terrified! As soon as the GoPro footage started I was like WTF!!!! ๐ ๐โค
Wow! Absolutely fabulous video Meg and Pete! Full of giggles and heart racing moments. Awesome job ๐โค
Loving the sass & banter from Mister Iceland ๐
Did you fall off
I am going to iceland to do a 5 day herding ride later this month. Watching this has made me so excited!
I love this man, he has such kind eyes & a beautiful disposition โค๏ธ
Surprised to see the horses are all shod despite being semi wild, why is that? Do they not lose shoes in the wet ground? Great video xx
I was taught to ride during a time in South Africa when we would often find ourselves several hours away from home, galloping and swimming our horses and climbing slime dumps etc.. (and no cell phones) you learn very early on to never let go of your reins when you fall off. If you did let go, it was going to be a long walk home not to mention the danger to your horse going all the way home by itself, through barb wire fencing and crossing busy roads etc….To this day, it does not matter how or why I fall off, I never let go of my reins!
I'm really surprised they are all shod – how is that managed and doesn't it cut up the land very much?
I joined and waited 5 minutes befor it started!!! I loved it!!
This looked like so much fun. I love seeing you so completely out of your comfort zone!
Loved this video! You do make me giggleโฆ Itโs just like endurance riding in Cornwall (minus the black sand of course) we even share the liquid sunshine ๐ You should try endurance next!! ๐๐ช๐ป
brilliant!
Iโve been waiting for this one! ๐ Great production!! And what an amazing experience ๐คฉ
Hadur looks like he could be your father๐
How are those wild horses???? All of them are shod๐๐๐
That was alright
I enjoyed every second of this video, but how glad I was to be in a nice warm dry house and not in an icelandic rainstorm! The landscapes and the horses are gorgeous, it must've been amazing to disconnect like that for a while and be so in touch with nature and the animals and the earth.. The dream. Well done Meg ๐
๐you and Hodur are hilarious.
Amazing and so funny xx
OMG!!!!!!!! THAT WAS EPIC!!!!!!!! If I were much, much younger and in my youth, I'd definitely do the herding and rain does not bother me. I love it!
Ricky Gervais Icelandic cousin is hilarious.
Loved this video!
Now, thanks to you, Meg, if we sign up for that, we know what we are getting into. And I totally want to sign up! Looks insane, but so worth it. Glad that the comedy duo of Hadur and Meg was reunited. Your material is great! And Pete, who I think has a natural gift for cinematography, is killing it with his gorgeous footage, here and everywhere!
I have goosebumps, this was so amazing to watch! Wow๐
So much fun. Would love to visit!!!!
Iโm going to Iceland next spring from the US and will be riding with Mr. Iceland because of these videos and CANNOT WAIT!
