I Won't Leave You (remastered for "Best of Tobin Mueller, Vol. 5: Chill")

Mueller’s anthem, “I Won’t Leave You”, has also gone under the title “What Survives”. Originally written for his Broadway musical, “Creature”, it has been recorded for small jazz ensemble (featuring Woody Mankowski”), by the original cast, and performed as a solo piano piece underscoring Mueller’s speaking voice for his 2017 album “Afterwords”, using the title “One With Stars”. This instrumental version verges more towards a contemporary classical concerto, with the piano taking the lead over electronic accompaniment.

Recorded at Factory Underground Studio, Kenny Cash producer, Mueller plays acoustic piano, electric pianos, synths, bass and percussion. The result is a dreamy concerto of ambient world music, a sensitive romantic concerto with jazz sensibilities. A beautiful work of art.

The 5-volume compilation, the “Best of Tobin Mueller” series, includes completely remixed and remastered recordings. Some of the tracks on the album are also are completely new recordings. They form the definitive compilation of Mueller’s best jazz and contemporary compositions.
