I Want Elden Ring to Make Tons of Money

Today we’re looking at the Elden Ring business model, which has been shunned by the industry at large under the excuse of not being profitable. I genuinely hope From Software makes more money than any other game in existence.

  1. Granted I’m only 14 hours in and I like it, but I’m not quite understanding all the 10s yet. It just feels like open world souls so far. I haven’t been truly WOWED. It’s a good game, but with this game, I’m starting to feel the formula is getting a little stale for the first time. Hopefully it picks up a lot from this point onwards. I say this as someone that has dark souls 1 as my 3rd favorite game of all time.

  2. Elden Ring is just a perfect example of a classic excellent game. No microtransactions and annoying shenanigans. You boot it up, you play it from start to finish. Priced well for a very very awesome content as well. Damn I wish all developers follow this trend (generally speaking)

  3. You think Ruri is mad?
A conventioneer got on the train in Chicago. He found the porter and told him, I'm dog tired. I am taking this berth. I will fall sound asleep, but I must get off this train in Pittsburgh. It will be an early morning stop. No matter what I say or what I do, just make sure to wake me up and see that I get off this train in Pittsburgh! Here is $20. Yes boss! The next thing the conventioneer hears is the porter calling out, New York City, New York City next stop! New York City?!! He opens up the window shade and the sun is high in the sky. He missed his stop! Gathers his stuff and goes looking for that porter. Finds him in the next car, grabs him, shakes him, screaming in his face, I told you to get me off this train in Pittsburgh! I paid you $20! throws him down on the floor, kicks him when he is down and gets off the train hopping mad in New York. Well, a passenger saw all this, gets out of his seat, kneels down next to the porter and says, Are you alright? Yea I'm alright. That man was mad! I believe that was the madness man I have ever seen! Porter says, Yea he was mad, sure enough. But if you think he was mad, you should have seen the fella I put off in Pittsburgh!

  4. I would argue even further and say that FS are saving traditional gaming as it is and it is only because of studios like them we are not in 100% mobile gaming yet.

  5. I had a day dream once on a walk around my village about a future RPG game, this was the 16bit era and I had an 8bit. The pinnacle for me was Dungeon Master at the time and Fighting Fantasy choose your own adventure books.
This game comes closest to that day dream

  6. Was not expecting so much anger, but I totally understand. Gaming is my favorite hobby and it hurts my soul to see businessmen get thier grubby little hands into the game.

I 100% agree, microtransactions, NTFs, whatever, should not exist in games. I can see, to a point, for free games to include them, but if I'm paying for a game, from .99c to $90, I expect to get the whole thing.

  7. In my opinion, the argument that games focused more on a single-player experience aren't profitable enough was completely disproved by God of War and Spider-Man. Both games were well received and sold very well. Star Wars: Jedi – Fallen Order continued that trend, and now so has Elden Ring. (And those are the just the first three that came to mind, I'm sure there are plenty of others out there I'm just not thinking of.) Of course Elden Ring isn't completely single player, but it sure doesn't have a battle royale mode or whatever. So yeah. That whole argument has been very clearly shown to be bullshit.

  8. I want this game to succeed, and make a tons of money. Not like a "its pass the expectation of investor" shit. I want it to make a filthy amount of money. Like Skyrim or GTA5 did. I want this game so succeed, it shake the whole industry and tell people to go back and make quality games is the way to go. I want it deep the fuck down in my heart.

  9. Love these videos from u. Also u ever notice how the fan boys of these studios will defend them by saying shit like “well u got the entire game what ur paying extra for is additional content”

    Bull.

The developers didn’t make the game and then make extra content separately lmao. They made the entire game and then chopped it up deciding which will be sold as the extra content

  10. What I love about fromsoft games is they treat you like an adult and leave you to figure things out I love the fact it feels like I'm going on an adventure every time I play, I've never played a fromsoft game that I didn't love. All very good points made here and I hope they make a butt load of money to show other publishers/ developers that if enough love is put into something it can be successful without aload of bullshit.

  11. This is my first souls game. I love it! I played it so much I have had to take a 2 day break because my right index finger was aching from attacking so much!! 😀 I agree with you 100% this industry is run by money men, unfortunately most studios are not capable of making a good game. So they rely on these bullshit tactics like micro transactions to make profit. It truly is a rare moment when a studio actually makes a proper video game and its oustanding.

  12. I agree with this. I hope that Elden Ring makes a lot of money.
I just wish that FromSoft would put more effort into their PC port, because they always feel like an afterthought and Elden Ring is no different.
The moment I saw how bad the performance was and how poor the keyboard+mouse support was I refunded the game.
Not because I hated it, but because I want a product that wasn't half assed. I will repurchase it once they've improved the PC port.

  13. People have issues with the menus? I've barely played other souls games and the menus aren't hard, I swapped to an unequipped blunt weapon mid boss fight with no issues. The game has a quick select and at least to me is very intuitive once you get used to the controls like with any game.

  14. Please stop saying the problems on PC are big, I almost didn't buy the game because of that hyperbolic claim being repeated over and over come release date.

But I trusted Fromsoftware and took a leap of faith and unlike with CDPROJECKT Cyberpunk 2077 they delivered and the game actually worked perfectly fine on PC with next to zero issues from day 1 with solid 60fps on 1080p and max settings (except the blood stains didn't work, which is fixed now), so stop it please because you might make some people skip the game entirely out of fear it's an unplayable mess on PC when you say it has big problems on PC, which is not even remotely true.

  15. erm why are you constantly compairing an single player rpg (odyssey) with an rpg that has lots of pvp(elden ring)? and lording it up that elden ring doesnt have loot stores or levelling advantages it sells? of course it doesnt it needs to be balanced for pvp?? This is such a daft argument to have.I love elden ring and i also love odyssey (a criminally under rated game) but they are not the same.

From what i Saw elden ring is One of the most famous games right Now just competing with Horizon zero dawn forbidden west and Pokémon Legends arceus to see who stays at the top,i agree with you that microtrasanctions are not needed but i don't agree with the notion that if you make a good game it Will automatically sell, many great games flopped hard just look at God Hand, disgaea 5 and 6,sleeping dogs ashura wrath and many more

  18. I like you dude 😂 I 100% agree with this. I always wonder why I see a game and think it would be cool and then just don’t bother picking it up later on. And I think it’s generally because I know there’s going to be all the missing content, the hand holding, and all the other bs that comes with it. Elden Ring has made me laugh, rage, give up, feel triumphant and realize what I’ve been missing from modern games. FromSoft is the only company with the right head on their shoulders as far as I’m concerned.

  19. I hope it makes enough for them to make Bloodborne 2 or something in the same timeline. I love Elden Ring. It's my second favorite Soul games. But bloodborne is still tops for me.

  20. Can you do a video on this nonsense about there not being a tutorial? Tutorial spoilers below:

First, there is a SCRIPTED death to demonstrate the game is about dying and resurrecting. Then they drop you right beside a ghost, telling you to jump down to learn the art of battle – demonstrating world verticality. This area is a CLASSIC on rails tutorial with popups telling you how to use flasks and reallocate them, how the inventory works, sites of grace, basic controls and combat techniques, resurrection, Sites of Marika, and how boss battles work.

Then you walk through a door and are shown an NPC explaining the main quest for the third time if you include cutscenes and explain grace pointers. He also tells you it is foolish to fight the first main-quest boss without finding a finger maiden to level you up, but you're welcome to try. Now you have quest pointers and a quest to find a finger maiden before fighting the first main-quest boss. Now is the first point your path is not on rails. They put a mini-boss in the way of the next site of grace to reinforce the resurrection mechanic and that it's an open-world; go around him as the tutorial showed you. The grace pointer takes you north to a merchant that describes how that works. There is also an armament upgrade station with a free smithing stone, which has popups on using it. Not to mention the Heros Rune by the lamppost so you can buy something. The merchant has adventuring gear, ammo, a crafting kit -also with popup tutorial, recipes, and some armor if you're having trouble. They even put a field of sheep outside that don't fight back so you can farm runes and materials.

The grace pointer then takes you on a path northeast to The Gatefront Ruin introduces new animal enemy types and gives some more popups – like one telling you that killing small groups of enemies like bats will refill your flasks. You might even discover the dark cave between the church and the ruin and go back to the merchant to buy a torch. By now, you know to activate the site of grace that you can see in the far northeast corner of Gatefront Ruin for a checkpoint. An NPC – the finger maiden – shows up at the Gatefront site of grace, telling you how leveling works and dissuading you from going for the first main-quest boss right away. Gatefront Ruin introduces new enemy types like dogs, spearmen, bugle-men, and Big-Shield. Here, you find a map fragment – opening the map gives you a popup tutorial – and a whetstone and free Ashes of War with a popup on using it. There's also a couple of weapon chests, and you probably got a few item drops. The beginning tutorial showed you to read item descriptions for more info. North of Gatefront Ruin, where the grace pointer says to go, you get stomped by a troll and barricade, which prompts you to explore the south and level up before taking it on, or you can run past them and get stomped by someone else.

At this point, the least intuitive bit is knowing to fast travel, a mechanic explained earlier, back to the church with the merchant where an NPC shows up to explain summoning and give you free spirit ashes to stomp Gatefront Ruins with. I am not sure if the NPC triggers if you ride there and rest at the site of grace. Perhaps FromSoftware figured you would go back to get supplies or upgrade your gear after Big-Shield or the troll stomped you a few times. Regardless, you found a merchant with stuff that would have proven valuable by that point. Now you have money, so it makes sense to go back there. The game has taught that runes are quickly gained and lost – and enemies respawn indefinitely, so spend them, try stuff out, and get more.

What more could the dev do?

  21. Bro',you absolutely nailed it,straight and honest into their f….n' greedy faces – I totally agree with that and imo for you there is no reason to apologize for being honest. The games industrie is so fricked up this time in many ways – is it how higher ups treat their employees like at ActiBlizz and Ubigreed or how publishers treat their customers and sell fullprized games to them that aren't even finished like EA and Square Enix. These whole bunch of greedy d…kheads should be embarassed into the ground and imo we need much more content creators that stand up for the players and tell them as clear as you did that this kind of behavior won't be pay off even won't be accepted. Unfortunately there are still way too much fanboys wich give a shit about all that because they desperately need their copypasted shit every year. However, great job with this video, thank you and keep it on👍🏻

  23. The devs that trash this game make money nickel and diming with every skin pack and weapon skin pack they release. This is a game for gamers. Not the egame hype beasts who just get paid to promote re skins of old games. This game was released complete. With a wonderful difficulty and scaling that isn't handed to you. It makes you experience the game however you chose. I hope this game becomes the next skyrim as far as legacy goes. Playable 15 years from now with the ability to capture the audience just like on launch day
