  1. 43:35 This honestly sounds a lot like fights in Monster Hunter. You're fighting a stupid, spongey behemoth but you can outmaneuver and outsmart them while taking advantage of your environment and grinding them down.

Considering that a fairly successful franchise of games is built on fights like this, I'd say this is a pretty good boss design.

  2. Thanks SO much for pointing out Witchfire. I was aware of it, but I haven't heard of it for a while and I had no idea it was available in early access! I've been playing it for hours and am completely engrossed. It's super unique, and it actually does play like a legit soulslike FPS. It's very refreshing.

  3. Great video as always! I'm always excited to see a new one come out!
    Game suggestion:
If you haven't already you should try Laika: Aged through blood. It's amazing!
It's pushing the Souls Like definition a little but it has respawning enemies, bonfire analogs, parry and loss of currency on death (retrievable).
It's a 2D metroidvania where one shoots gun from a motorcycle and have to perform tricks to reload.
Amazing story on how war affects families and kids in particular (absolutely brutal though and not for the faint of heart).
The OST is one of the best I've heard in a game.
The environmental story telling is great.
Gameplay is really fun (Bosses are sometimes a little frustrating but nowhere near what I expected)
    Cheers!

  4. The one trend in souls-likes I really, really dislike is color coding attacks. Even accepting the idea of ‘this one attack only has one way to deal with it ever, period’, etc, which is something else I dislike, I feel like there has to be a more immersive way of telegraphing these than ‘whole body/limb gets a colored aura’

  5. if witch fire has not had any dlc's or up dates or to the amount of in game levers then i can only guess it did not do as will as the devs hope. but still i cant wait to try the game for my self. the game looks hard but fun and i been looking for a new game at a higher difficulty then the usual mainstream games that are usually for me are just a let down. i play all the dark souls games and blood bore and Elden ring and all the armored core games and the newer armored core game and the newer doom games so i am looking forward to trying witch hurt so thanks for the tip

  6. omg "wizard of legend" been a while since i've heard this name 😀 i used to LOVE playing this game with my brother (and even solo). i think it has the PERFECT difficulty balance. if you die a lot but you still want to play more that says enough i think. we beat this game (the secret 6th boss or something?) and it was so satisfying when we did. i recommend this game so much to someone who loves challange that comes from getting better at the game because that's all there is to it! and if you have someone to play with… 11/10

  8. Thank you for posting the perfect video to listen to while I finish my homework ❤

Can I recommend a game? I'd really like to see you cover Phoenotopia: Awakening. I feel like it fits the definition of "hidden gem" perfectly. I wont spoil anything, but I hope you try it!

  9. I think the contrast between Koler's 3 years versus Prison of Husks 8 months of development time as absolutely wild. Koler feels like it doesn't have any vision or style. It looks like a series of assets slapped together. Prison of Husks has a very distinct PS1 art style game with a cohesive vision that meshes well with the inspiration they drew it from. The combat in both games does look slow and clunky, the combat in Husks seems to have actual flow and player feedback. The combat in Koler doesn't seem to have any feedback and everything that happens will happen regardless of player interaction (with the exception of the health bar reaching zero) I can't help but feel like the Dev for Koler spent too long focusing on adding features to the game, with complete disregard for ironing out the core game play first. Koler doesn't seem to have any direction, any goals or purpose. I have deep respect for anyone who can work on any project for longer than two weeks as I know I'd lose my mind and the dev will almost certainly never see this comment, I hope with future game projects they have a clearly defined vision and goals they want to accomplish.

  10. Perennial Order looks like Hollow Knight directed by John Carpenter. Like that Hivemind boss makes me feel like deepnest from HK with that crawling noise all around and Nosk boss fight, but far more creepy.

  11. There are only a few things that truly make a soulslike for me. Choice of weaponry, cool big bosses, dodge rolls, but all bets are fucking OFF if they dont have breakable barrels, jars, boxes n shit.

  12. for the witch-fire game, It would be cool if curses can have slightly beneficial effects so it makes you want to play riskier. Like slightly higher attack speed with increased stamina drain. That game looked really fun tbh!

  13. So fun fact about that boss Heikea from One Crab's Treasure; the Heike crabs are an actual phenomenon where locals believed they were possessed by the souls of the Heike clan and fisherman would throw back crabs whose shells look like Samurai masks leading to a crazy case of artificial selection where a lot of Heike crabs now look uncannily like Samurai masks it's cool as hell. It's also where the Genji 2 game demo Giant Enemy crab meme came from in a roundabout way.
